At the same time in the prison next door called the Metropolitan Reception Prison known as the MRP a guy called Timmy Mathews was the man along with Jockey Smith & next door to that was the Metropolitan Remand Centre known as the MRC which was being run by the Quinlan brothers 3 big as & mean Aboriginal brothers.
Still if the stoush was real who won Neddy or Tom?Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe

Absolutely it was. Neddy destroyed him. Domican admits this, but blames it on a lack of condition lol. Neddy was rated the best street fighter to come out of the NSW gaol system in 50 years. Of course, it also helped being 6 foot 6 and built like a tank. For a full description of the fight, check out James Phelps' very informative book on Long Bay. Neddy has a chapter to himself.
Domican was doing all the round house kick to the head moves but big Ned got hold of him but then the officers (screws) got hold of both of them & it was broken up.
On another occasion it was a Saturday afternoon in the CIP late 1990 & blokes had got visits in the morning so there were drugs in the house the BIG H specifically & Warren Genna had had a visit in the morning & was the man holding. He was aboutv 6'3 well built & had a boxing background & a massive motor, number 1 haircut with a nose spread across his face but still ruggedly good looking & farkin tough was attacked in 4 wing by 4 Indigenous boys who were all armed with small iron bars that they had got from the double bunks in their cells. Genna fought them off & made his way across the yard from 4 wing to 6 wing with his whole head covered in blood, he approached the 6 wing officer on the gate & said gate up boss who let him in where he then went straight to Neddy Smiths cell. So farkin eerie it was there was about to be a black on white show down when suddenly the MEU (swat teams) came in & the place went into lockdown, 4 Koori lads were taken away to segro & no trouble followed. True story.

Anyway one of the artist or painters in attendance was Paul Simonon ( Clash Bassist ) - my cousins have the gift of the gab so we went over to talk to him - I thought it's always a bit of an issue doing this as they may not want to be bothered - completely the opposite a really nice bloke.
When my cousins said this is our Aussie cousin he remembered the i think magnificant seven tour and asked if i went - nervously i replied ahhhh yes i did it was great- anyway he then says if you hang on a sec i'll bring Mick Jones(Clash Guitarist and Song writer with Joe Strummer ) over as he's here as well - Nice bloke as well - I was wearing my Clash T-Shirt so that may have helped.
Salvo - how envious can I be that you have met these guys ?.
The Clash are one of my favorite bands and IMO have to be one of the top 5 bands ever.
They were once described as "the only band that mattered"
Strummer, Headon, Simonson , and Jones were great musicians, and their material was thought provoking as well.
From their early days as a hardcore punk band they expanded into different styles- rock, pop, reggae, ska, hip -hop.
They just evolved all the time, a really difficult thing to do.
They had a huge catalogue of great songs with some of my faves- "Complete Control ", "Tommy Gun" and "Radio Clash"
And then there's "Know your rights" which I think is so important - read the lyrics and it tells you that although we all think we are free, and we have rights - we actually have nothing.
What was written in this song in the early 1980's by the Clash , is more relevant today in 2021 than it ever was.
A great, witty, clever band, with a great sound as well, ready to observe and comment on many issues of the times.
You have met the rock gods, in person.

Back in the 90's I met B-Real from Cypress Hill and shared a joint with him. Thats my favourite but I have met a lot of musicians/singers such as Michael Bolton, Celine Dion, Johnny Cash, Pearl Jam, Tina Arena, Willie Nelson, Dazza Braithwaite, Alice Cooper, James Taylor, Billy Joel. Usually it was just a hello and a handshake, maybe a few words.

I remember seeing the Damned in some sort of reunion final concerts and few other groups i can't remember the names of when i was there that time - it was more the era of hair bands by then

The name I associate with Katingal is Russell mad dog Cox. Incredible to break out of there & stay on the run for 11 years.
