  • Radley & Verills to miss round 1 vs Manly

As confirmed by Robbo via sen radio

No surprise as the NRL physio had said they are expected to return around round 4.

There has been some studies that indicate the reinjury rate after a torn ACL decreases significantly if the return to play is at least 9 months and not 8 months or less.

It’s not surprising but it’s better for both players. Liu is still a good lock and Keighran should be a decent 14. It’s not the end of the world for us.

Can’t wait to get them both back.
What a great problem it would be to have too many fit and ready players who all deserve spots in the 17.

Sounds like good advice. Just anecdotal but all the people I've come into who keep repeatedly doing their ACL seem to come back too early without enough prep. Best to play it safe, be @nal about your recovery regime and come back a bit later rather than constantly trying to rush it...

Any chance they’ll get a ‘warm up’ game with the bears?

Can see Verrills playing some NSW Cup before eventually slotting back on the bench in first grade but I would expect Radley to start on the bench in first grade when he is ready to return.

Their first games back better not be anywhere near Bankwest!

Round 3 is Souths away, Round 4 is Warriors at SCG

yep. people say it wasn't the pitch but it had to be. not bankwest itself, but the overused playing surface that it was at the time

So we win by 40 instead of 50, I can live with that and have them returning fully fit.

Manly is a bit of a banana skin game for us. It's one we should win, but our record against Manly is hardly inspiring!
