The almost swap of Latrell for Suaali could be on par with the Roosters swapping Jeff Orford for Andy Walker.,

Consider the dangers that apprentice jockeys are put in. Far, far greater than a rugby league player. And often when far younger than 17.

As a culture we make much too much of age -- at both ends of the spectrum.

I can’t work out why everyone thinks Latrell is all of a sudden shit at footy. He was getting better and better last year at fullback. I think he will be close to the best player in the comp this year. He is amazing.

I don’t like that he left and went to the vermin - I don’t like how he did it - but as a footballer I wish we still had him.

Souths’ owner Russell Crowe has broken his silence on teenage superstar Joseph Suaalii’s defection to arch rivals the Roosters on a deal worth the same money he was on at Souths.

Sydney Morning Herald reported the Hollywood mega star was confused why the 17-year-old decided to accept a similar offer at a rival club.

“Does it hurt? It’s a little perplexing, shall we say,” Crowe told the Sydney Morning Herald.
“I just hope Joseph is in a place where he’s comfortable and where he can play his best football.

“I think he’s a good kid. We’re not quite sure what the difference is between our dollars and somebody else’s dollars, because theoretically the figures are the same. Who knows?”

Suaalii was offered a contract extension worth $1.7 million at Souths, but the club ultimately baulked at his management’s attempts to put get-out clauses in his contract.

Crowe had Suaalii and his family up to his farm during the negotiation process, but denied having any direct involvement with contract talks for Suaalii or any other Souths’ player.

“He’s a great kid,” Crowe said.

“Met his mum and sister, they came up to the farm. But there’s a complete misunderstanding with what I do at the club.

“I have never negotiated a contract with the player at any time. The questions I ask are more about culture.

“They’re the conversations I have with players. When it comes down to the deal-making, I don’t have anything to do with it.”

Suaalii’s attempts to have get-out clauses inserted in his contract were seen as the final straw for Souths, before the prodigy was wooed by the Roosters and Trent Robinson, with Sonny Bill Williams also involved in the Tri-colours’ pitch.

Souths’ coach Wayne Bennett reportedly told sources close to him that the pursuit of Suaalii became “too hard”.

The Roosters accepted Suaalii’s contractual conditions in the hope that Robinson and the club’s culture could make it very difficult to leave after two seasons.

Time will tell if the Rabbitohs live to regret not doing more to keep him.
to be fair, he's not chucking any phones here. says suaalii's a good kid and wishes him well

Ah the pirate...just another left wing twat desperately craving attention in a attempt to justify his pathetic little existence. Much the same as all leftie freaks -
”look at me, look at me, I’m important, I’ve got an opinion and you MUST listen to me!”
If you don’t, you’re uneducated, a racist, or a bigot.
..simply because you have an opinion that differs to mine!
NO ONE CARES what you have to say Fitzsimmons - you complete nonce. You were never affiliated with league in any way, so please just STFU

Agreed. I hate Souffs and it's annoying how they lured Latrell out but it doesn't mean their roster's shyte.

Souffs have one of the best coaches and rosters in the comp. One can pretty much guarantee that Latrell will continue to improve under Wayne Bennett and will have lotsa highlights in 2021. He's one of the best in the game!

There was some pushback but they released Suaalii to us in the end. As an Easts fan I'm happy with this move as Teddy's a better FB than Latrell and this has given us the opportunity to develop another really special centre. Wayne has previously said something similar... that Teddy's an amazing FB so Latrell was never gonna be one with us.

Latrell still shapes up as Greg Inglis with far better ball playing skills.

He was indeed coming along nicely last year. Though I felt as though he played like a flat track bully - having a few games where he destroyed a few hopeless teams.

The big test will be how he injects himself into the big games against high quality opposition. He can go missing for an entire half of footy. Which is something you'd never accuse James Tedesco of doing.

Still, there's no denying his remarkable talent. Naturally I hope he doesn't lead Souffs to a comp in 2021 but it's entirely possible if his heart is in it.

This was only an excerpt of the story. It was full of innuendo and crumbs fed to his team's toothless fans - "we work to a cap, unlike others who we won't discuss", reference to sombreros etc.

I think the Vermin have a good chance of winning this year, but you wouldn't want to bet your house on them. One premiership in 50 years and three straight losses in GF qualifiers suggest that the Charity Shield may again be the pinnacle of their season.

They will only able to compete under the Bennet new 6 again and 6 again touch footy rules now that they dont have to tackle much.
Take it from here and I do not know when and if it will but someone is spilling beans on a certain teams and a few Cayman Island accounts belonging to 4 former players and 2 current...lets see if NRL try to sweep this under the carpet...I cant give you any clues who !....lo

yeah, they surprised last year and might have gone further if latrell hadn't got injured. stars aligning for them this year being bennett's last year. not sure how they'll go after bennett (which is one of the reasons suaalii has done well to come to us). might be hard to get the best out of arrow and murray in the same team.
would love a repeat of the 2018 prelim - that was such a good night.

Way past the age of reason? What does that even mean? should we be treating a 13yo like an adult? maybe lower the age of consent to 13 or even lower?

You display a similar rationalisation for hatred as the people you despise.

And as Dice runs on the roll call of the Pen's Right Wing nutters is almost complete. Still waiting for 13 though I see that he is 100% behind Trell which is sensible after that Charity Shield performance. On the other hand, crypto Souffs tragic?
Anyway back to the Age of Reason which, for your edification Dicey is that age at which a child is deemed capable of distinguishing right from wrong as determined by his/her community's perception of the.terms.
It used to be the age of 8 years but I think that there has been a reset to 10 which is well below 13. It has nowt to do with consent to sexual relations Dice - you're trying to muddy the water in a ham fisted way - but everything to do with understanding and being held responsible for one's actions. Whether she knew racism was unacceptable or not is beside the point, at 13 she should have known. So should you.

Yes yes, anyone who doesn't 100% agree with your religion is a right-wing nutter. Let's bring on the death penalty for racist 10 year olds.
