Yes Bruce, Bunny played for the Colts and was a Paddo resident. Paddo Colt has outed himself as a fake. What local even if from Paddo calls the Main Street in Bondi Campbell Avenue. Peard Mayes and 74 GF team mate Kenny Jones all played for United.

Read the poem 'The Man from Ironbark'.

I believe it means 'toffee-nosed'... rich and snobby.

During his chat with Bouris, Robbo summarised the east quite well. When I grew up in Paddington, I was a wog who'd moved up from the Gong and all my friends from the north shore thought they were the shyte. Now the east's all rich and stuff but it still sorta has that reputation IMO. For example just this week I told a colleague (who is of the opinion they're from a blue blooded pedigree in Canberra coz they grew up in an inner-suburb) that I'd visited mum in Paddington over the weekend. Their face crumpled up and they were like 'isn't that really dodgy? I'm surprised anybody's mum lives there'. I just shrugged it off (as I'm used to in Canberra) but I feel that a lot of expensive parts of the east may never have that 'toff' kinda culture/image (which is a good thing IMO as it's often an attitude thing rather than simply a wealth thing).

Ah got ya. Toffee-nosed. That makes sense. Yeah it's all very silly isn't it? I live in 'Tuggers' (Canberra) so yeah I get that those inner city Canberrans think they're superior to us down south lol. That silly the North is better than the South nonsense that happens here. As fas as the East in Sydney is concerned, doesn't everyone just assume everyone living there are all just snobby cafe-latte sipping ladida's anyway? That's what Rabs and Channel nine and the Johns brothers always tell me!

Ism's explanation sounds right MR. It's that class (almost always wealthy) which thinks itself above the ordinary and usually has a marked sense of entitlement - think the Liberal and National Parties.
The aspiration of a large section of our population is to, somehow, join that class which, in turn, leads them to overlook nil wage growth, wages rip offs, fake antagonism toward China, a bullshit daggy dad and any number of other moral issues like rapes in parliament.

Yeah... so? You think he (or the ghost writer) is gonna mention every junior club he played for? The idea is to make the book interesting and of course, with that in mind, they're gonna highlight the Colts because of their fame. As you might also mention Collingwood, Man U, Ajax, Souffs etc if you sought to interest the reader.
I stand by my comments - might have been born in Paddo (the Royal Womens') but didn't live there. Did play for the Colts but so did a lot of Bondi fellas. Still sayin' Maroubra Junction. Might hurt a bit but there it is.

My mother used that term a lot. She always teased me about moving to Rose Bay and called me one. I said I was the only woman in Franklins wearing a Def Leppard T-shirt..that made her laugh..

                    • Mmm... last Boxing Day down at the supermart I noticed this proliferation of old farts (like really decrepit old buggers) in T-shirts embellished with Black Sabbath, AC/DC, Metallica, Led Zep, Def Leppard etc, etc. I then realised that the shirts were their Chrissie prezzies and that they were the original audience.
That's not an uppercut RWB, just sayin' is all though I see yet another ungracious swipe in your last posting. Es tu Brutus?
Since you like song lyrics so much I thought that you might appreciate "Nightingale", one of the most beautiful poetic evocations of the life force in all of us. Maybe stick to Def Leppard on second thoughts (again, no uppercut intended).

No I'd say he's a toffs by his interpretation, he obviously thinks he's above most people
