The Kumuls loved him in the last World Cup and they play a tough game. He gave them real strike but he must play a pretty precise roll under Robbo what with Keary playing both sides. He's in the squad for sound reasons, he's been a talent for several years and no player on a Robbo roster could possibly be a dud (though I'm not so sure about Keirhan yet there must be sound reason behind his recruitment).

all those bagging him, how do you know that the game plan, ie what Trent asked him to do, was not what he did?
He played a simple game, tackle, distribute, kick, don't overplay your hand, let our awesome outside backs do what they do best.
I think the comments are a bit harsh, he was as equal to how Flanagan played, if not better in defense and a better kicking game.
Cut the kid some slack for a few weeks to see how he works into the position.

I gather from what Robbo was saying that Lam's role will be a second fiddle one so to speak as Keary will be running the show and playing a roving role in attack - left or right side depending on what he sees not something that is pre-determined. You can't have 2 dominant halves both wanting the ball as who get's it? - The days of left and right halves is well on the way out.

I think also the commentators in the Bears vs Manly game made some telling comments in relation to defenders protecting Walker in defence - if you need inside and outside defenders protecting the middle defender in reggies then that will be even more of an issue in the NRL as teams will exploit this time and time again and focus their attack that side.

I hoped by starting this thread that someone would tell me why they rate him, but I guess we will both be waiting for that.

I rate him but more importantly Robbo rates him so that's good enough for me and should be the end of it.

Thankfully they aren't selectors as the Chooks would need a squad of 50 as they would be dropping and promoting players on a weekly basis. Never have the same side twice even if all fit.

I don't think they comprehended what role Keary is now playing that of a roving role in attack - left or right as he see's fit - Tedesco unlike last year when he was trying to do too much is now biding his time in attack and letting it all unfold. Lam's role is that of running half and link role which complements Keary's roving halves role.

Can't have two Keary types halves role players or the left side and right side half anymore - the new rules have changed the roles of halves and the way teams attack.- The dominant left side and structured attack will also become obsolete with these rule changes

Lam is our 5/8 , team player, a player that stays in his lane an lets the leaders own the game ! Keary and Teddy need more ball in hand! They are unstoppable, i cant cant see any team beating us when the best player teddy/ best fullback and the best 5/8 and now 7 Keary touching the ball more than any of our player's! The rest of the team stay in there lane an let our 2 masters go to work!
