With the salary cap, we can’t have superstars across the park filling every position (though we do a good job of it). We need players who command less of a salary but work harder to make up for it. Play on

Halves used to play side by side for quite a while then changed to a half on either side - the roving role is quite new for a half as a result of the rule changes - i remember Nathan Blacklock used to have a roving role as a winger though not sure of a half ever having one.

Lams doIng a specific role for the team at present 2 games in and has played his role in a team with 2 big wins to start.

Its conservative and he is feeling his way no doubt, but its not under 8s where everyone should shine and take turns.

If he gives champions like Teddy and Keary the space to play their footy, he's still playing a role.

He's strong positionally, always pushing up and on the ball and linking. You would have to assume thats what the Coach has asked of him so far. This part of the season its more important to get Luke playing the dominant half role and thats progressing brilliantly.

If you watched him progress through the lowers you would know he has plenty to offer in attack.

Fast step and feet, good short and longer kicking game...he just needs confidence to back himself more whilst not going against game plans. It will come with patience.

            TIT.

I cant work out why some people dont get it.
            Well said JFC.

Apparently it's because some of us are from QLD.

The team has won by 40 for the last 2 weeks & people are looking for a scape goat?

                    • I'm from Qld and I can't figure out what we are bitching about today. Are we for Lam or are we vegan and against him?

But in another thread you said that Manly & the Tigers weren’t ‘much chop’, my friend. So what is it?

I agree Brain. Lussick has the greater upside for sure. Hutch is just a good guy to have in the squad who can fill a number of positions when the team needs him.

                            • lam's been okay so far. he's done some good things and some bad things. yes we've won by a lot but the opps haven't been top raters. is lam so good that walker should look for a new club? probably not. still, it may be that he's our best option this year. time will tell. he's been around the team for a few years now but his chances have been cruelled by injuries.
walker's a prospect and should be given a chance in the near future. i'm a bit surprised robbo doesn't see walker on the bench to come on with lam to move to dummy half as an option (even though hutch proved him right yesterday).

I think it is because Walker can only play in the halves, where as Hutch has more utility value with his size. He can be thrown into dummy half or back row.
                                ...
