  • Ikuvalu Sent off for Bears.

Matt Ikuvalu sent off for a so-called chicken wing offense whilst in possession. It appeared like the defender and Matt tangled their arms and the defender dislocated his elbow. The Bears lost 42-20 Blacktown scored 4 tries when Matt went off.

I only saw it on the NSWRL footage - looked purely accidental and occured with Ikuvalu was getting up to play the ball- not sure how he was set off though for a chicken wing tackle when in possession - be interested to see what happens with the charge and judiciary.

The injury to the Manly's players arm occurred when he fell on it not anything that Ikuvalu did

But how easy that elbow just twisted. The Norths player reaction to it as he was standing there going to be dummy half was funny BUT I have been there myself when I was playing rugby many centuries ago when one of our player went to do a tackle and his leg broke. The sound was crisp and loud. It put me off my first post match beer, not the second.

I saw it happen right in front of my eyes (elbow dislocation and all). I was at the game and it was a tough call. Matt held his jersey but it was BS that the ref classified it as a "chicken wing". It appeared as though the ref made an error and couldn't go back on it... the ref backed his own shit call !

freak accident but he did make a meal of not disentangling himself from the manly bloke's arm. clearly no intent to cause what happened but not blameless. depends if they sentence him for what he did or for what happened to the other bloke

A complete joke, should have been a penalty to the Bears. I feel for the poor bloke whose arm is cactus but its mostly his own doing

The defender falling to the ground caused the injury though as you can see on the video not the disentanglement - the defender put his right hand on the ground and fell over when Ikuvalu got up to play the ball - the defenders body weight caused the injury nothing that Ikuvalud did.

Not sure what game the video ref or whoever it was was watching that told the ref to send Ikuvalu off.

Total accident....Matty was aghast at the outcome, zero intent. Adjudication needs to factor that as the main determinant of the response. Dud send off.

on the one hand iku wouldn't have drawn even a penalty if the guy hadn't landed on his arm so awkwardly, on the other iku didn't have to grab his jersey

Yes, a totally ridiculous send off and a totally ridiculous charge.

Surely the judiciary will see the light.
