  • Tupouniua no-try was a mistake - Annesley

Well fry me in butter and call me a catfish... the NRL has admitted that bunker call was bunkum. Graham Annesley highlighted it in his briefing today saying that Sitilli never lost control of the ball and that the decision was "too technical".

Is it a new video ref rule that allows them to over rule the on field decision without sufficient evidence?
It's no good waiting so long to celebrate a try.
    This happened to Canberra twice.

Fair try disallowed. Players fined for doing nothing. Another player suspended for next to nothing. Only 1 penalty received.

The NRL have picked up from where they left off in 2020.

This is the first time ever that we've had a public 'apology' I believe.

Amazingly, there was one other time if I remember correctly Bruce, but the specific incident evades my recollection. I'm sure someone smarter than me will remember.

Common sense thrown out the window in search of perfection. No surprises it happened to the Roosters yet will happen to other teams I expect.

Oh, and your first sentence made me laugh Spirit, though I will have to go look up what it means as I've not heard that one before.

Highly unlikely this was it but this came to mind straight away. Not an official apology as such but what would you expect?

Thanks 007. As you correctly surmised, that wasn't what I had in mind. I was thinking about an in-game incident. Damn, it's going to bother me now until I remember.

There was a couple in the GF in 2019 that Annesley said were wrong. Maybe even the Cronk sin binning. I know they said the 6 to go in the lead up to their only try was an incorrect call......sort of got evened out in the second half though!!!

Here you go Lone Rooster. I have a mind like a steel trap (because I don't drink )

It's the first video examined by Annesley in this briefing: https://www.nrl.com/news/2021/03/15/...ng---round-1-/

New system for adjudication of a try Eddie - ref makes a call but sends it upstairs if unsure. Whilst the video ref is reviewing the kicker lines up the kick - if it’s awarded he attempts the kick - if not well he doesn’t- I don’t mind it at least it forces the ref to make a call and there is less wasted time.
