Do we need a rivalry with Souffs?

The East/South rivalry was never as big as now, though it was there in the way that it is with most local derbies. What happened in recent times was that Rusty sentimentally bought in probably in the hope that he could, at least, break even and naturally he would want to maximise that prospect. He does what every sports investor does - he promotes in the age old Barnum and Bailey fashion - Book of Feuds, Maximus no mercy thumbs down etc and, no doubt, there is some fertile ground around the ill feeling about East's position when Murdoch punted them.

I thought that the Maximus thing was brilliant at the time and I get a laugh from other manifestations but I don't take it seriously in any way.

Exactly & its because Souths are now on the same level as the Chooks. Whilst the Doggies were a powerhouse I used to look so forward to seeing the Chooks play them. The Dogs were dirty & played hard rough footy & when the Roosters would get over them its like now how I feel when they get over Souths. The Chooks in 2018 beat the 3 hardarse roughest toughest grubbiest teams over 3 weeks to win the comp to show everyone that they were the meanest roughest & toughest team on the planet. That was so satisfying.

The Easts vs Souffs rivalry has always existed and the only reason it appears bigger is due to population growth and tabloid sports media and not just Maximus’ pathetic book.

Here is the thing... every year Russell Crowe goes out of his way to talk down about our club, our culture, and our history... he isn’t just a supporter.. he is the owner of the fkn club.. that is a big deal for me and honestly has made me dislike them even more and want nothing but failure for them and Russell..
