  • Official Match Day Thread: Roosters v Souths

    Friday September 25th, 2020.

One of the darkest days in our club’s proud history. The day we were broken, humiliated, smashed. The day we become the joke of the NRL and the bitch of South Sydney. The day our season really ended. The day we lost our opportunity for a three-peat. The day we lost our confidence. Nobody can deny this.

This memory can never be erased. It will be with us forever. There was no reason for us to lose like that. It was shameful. An embarrassment to all involved with the club. We make no excuses.

Tonight is our opportunity to help our club heal. To put that horrible night aside and to give that filthy vermin a night they will never forget.

Let’s bash them, smash them, beat them good and truly. Just a reminder to them that we are once again the benchmark of the league and we ain’t nobody’s bitch!

    GO ROOSTERS!

Hurts to say it but on that night we were. Who can deny that.

(Not as harsh as your ridiculous avatar).

I can deny it...and am quite happy to make excuses.

        1. We rested players
        2. We had injuries
        3. We were, and still are, rebuilding after Cooper Cronk.
        4. Our players were tired by then from all the hard work they had done to claw back from 0-2 start when the new comp/shortened season was introduced.
5.The rules were changed, thanks for nothing. Our players were recruited and trained to play under the old system.
        6. Souths home game, with all that entails.
        7. Our half-back of last season is not our half-back of this season.
        8. Pandemic. NRL bubble...disruptions at work and home.
        9. World Club Challenge...pre season 2020.
        10. Sometimes the opposition is just too good on the day.

        We're still rebuilding...and have injuries.
Having learnt from last season, and no WCC, we've started well this season.
        Tonight, Souths home game again.
Hopefully we'll win, and win well. Beating teams coached by Bennett is often no easy task though.

Yep have to agree anyone who didn't feel the shame of that flogging obviously isn't a footy tragic like some of us. Nothing can fix that pain except to beat them by 61 -8 which probably wont happen so Ill settle for a win by field goal with 30 seconds to go .F&*k vermin go the Roosters

Is that how you get through life by making excuses?

“We’re still rebuilding” Is this a joke? That’s just an excuse shit clubs use when they are shit.

Are you by any chance in your 40s and still living at home? I’m from Bondi too. We should meet up for a coffee. I’ll be at Speedo’s at 1130am today. I’ll be wearing Roosters shorts. Come and say hi. I think I may be able to help you.

I’m just looking forward to the game & don’t know whether I should attend live or go to the opening of Arties Bar at the Leagues & watch it there.
Anyway I hope the Chooks win & I hope it’s a bloody good game.

I think a lot of what you say is true. I prefer this version of Bondi Boy to the pessimistic 2018 to 2020 version. Easts to win!

I'm old enough to remember when the Roosters beat the Bunnies 56-16 in August 1992. An all in brawl, sin bins and I think Mark Protheroe was knocked out.

I don't think it will be anything like last year somehow. I am still a bit sceptical at what happened TBH. It is just so hard to fathom that we could have ever played like we did in that anomaly of a game in 2020. Anyway, what is done is done. One thing to remember is - they beat us in a club game. At the end of the day, it didn't count for anything. Yes, we bowed out, but I think that would have happened anyway. We play for premierships - not one in 50 years, but on a regular basis.

Let's go out tonight and show those sour, miserable, salty so and so's from the wrong side of Anzac Parade who is boss, who is superior. It is time to stand up, be counted and make a statement, to not only ourselves, our supporters, fans, and hangers on, but to the whole league. It is about gaining respect, getting back to where we should be in the pecking order of the NRL, on top!

                            Roosters by 10.

                            Easts to win.

Some people believe supporting the Roosters
is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed
with that attitude. I can assure you it is
much, much more important than that.

Hard to fathom? Not really, if you consider my list of reasons carefully.
