What kind of technology does he have in mind? Because due to the physics of projectile motion the backwardly passed ball will very often end up in front of the position it's passed from. So cameras and lines on the field showing its start and end point will prove nothing. Bearing this in mind the warriors pass was probably just forward out of the hands but only just. I realise most people don't understand this.

But once again typical over reactive BS from the NRL.

A far, far greater influence on game outcomes is the completely subjective interpretation of how long a tackled player is allowed to be slowed down, compounded by the 6 again rule with one side getting fatigued by having to defend 24 tackles in a row as a result of the refs deeming their tackles "not dominant enough". What a crock. The other night our first half play the ball speed according to NRL stats was 1.5 seconds longer than our opponents. So Souffs were getting constant roll ons and we still got pinged 12-2 in the penalties/restarts.

Wanna introduce technology to make the game fairer? Have a play the ball clock. If you're not off the player you tackled in say 3 seconds, it's a penalty. And get rid of the "dominant tackle' rule all together as it gives the game managers far too much power over game (betting) outcomes, and is compounded by the 6 again farce.

I don't really want this technology, just giving the hypothetical.
I've always liked this explanation, which I think was created before a Rugby World Cup ....

I very much doubt they can come up with a technology that allows for the forward momentum of the player throwing the pass.

I agree with you, the problem won't be the technology, it will be the people whose job it is to interpret it. The same people who stuff up so many times with aid of the video technology that we have now.

V'Landy's is a populist. He knows that the majority of people will think this is a great idea, the reality is they won't be able to do it. Sure there are the odd obvious ones that it may pick up, however we will end up having matches decided based on subjective, rather than objective decision making, just as we have now.

Oh and by the way, fark the Viking Victims of the league. Cry babies always have to complain they were robbed!

Ooooohhhhh 6 again... forward passes... whats next?

I've always said that if you put yourself in a position to let a poor decision decide a game then you didn't deserve to win it anyway. That mob were up over 20 points and still lost. No forward pass was deciding that game.

              Buzz:
"The Warriors scored a try from a blatant forward pass."

The Raiders are right to be outraged.

The technology is good , they have been testing it in the NFL and by all reports it's been a ragging success...

Imagine if the Captains could challenge this- the NRL will need employ experts in the field to analyse it and give their hypothesis on the probability of whether the pass was forward or not - I can imagine Gus Gould commentating on this whilst the experts analyse it.

Below is an interesting article on backwards and forward passing - i didn't know that in American Football they changed to allowing the forward pass in that game for safety concerns due to deaths and serious injuries -the then president Theodore Roosevelt had threatened to ban the game if it was not made safer and this was the solution.
