It’s so sad that Verrills hasn’t been able to kick on because of injury. Now, more than ever, Lussick needs to step up. Until Friend is back, dummy half is probably our weakest position outside of the halves.
I know it won't be a common agreement on here,or popular, but the club needs to really make a call on both Friend & Cordner.
If your head isnt bright after a year off like Cordner or even 3 weeks now for Friend,it just won't ever be.
Great blokes, triple premiership players & captains, but there needs to be a call on forced medical retirement.
Pretty much we have 2 players at around 1.5mill down every week & its costing the team, especially as all depth players are going down.
If they aren't going to play in a crunch game like this round, why bring them back mid year when it could be too late.
Just my opinion & know ill get bagged but there comes a point in time & in my eyes its here.
Well you can have 3/4 etc,but will never be the same.Im comfortable in saying Smith will never make 50 games for us & will end up as another Moga.
You lose mobility, strength & above all trust in the injured part & tend not yo play or train as hard.

I don’t like having guys 2 who are one head knock away from retirement. All what they have done is forever appreciated but these guys who are susceptible to head injuries are chewing up cap dollars and are offering nothing in return.
Very disappointing news. I am mainly concerned about his outlook. I hope that he gets the best and right treatment, with minimal repercussions for his long term health and wellbeing. He is a good prospect and I hope that remains.
MRR or Rabid
Some people believe supporting the Roosters
is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed
with that attitude. I can assure you it is
much, much more important than that.
If it’s just another arthroscopy then Sammy will be back in no time. Better to get it right now than later in the year. He is young and should heal well with rest and appropriate physio.
Hopefully, with the exception of Kez, we should be at full strength by mid season, with Walker and Suaali blooded and ready for some finals razzle dazzle.
The Sydney Roosters have been dealt another shocking injury blow with news that star hooker Sam Verrills requires further knee surgery.
X-rays have revealed scar tissue on his knee that requires an operation and will keep him out for another four to five weeks.
Verrills was originally due to make his comeback this weekend after recovering from an ACL injury.
The Roosters already have their number one hooker Jake Friend out indefinitely as he recovers from a bad concussion from the opening round game against Manly.
Coach Trent Robinson is expected to start with Drew Hutchison at hooker this weekend in a tough game against the New Zealand Warriors.
The would mean Kiwi Test centre Joey Manu starting at five-eighth alongside rookie halfback Sam Walker with Brett Morris switching to the centres.
Matt Ikuvalu, who scored five tries against the Cowboys last year, is expected to be named on the wing ahead of Joseph Suaalii.
Making matters even worse for the Roosters is the unavailability through injury of utility and handy goal-kicker Adam Keighran.
Latest was last week Friend was to see a brain specialist but the Doc had a heart attack - not sure if he's booked in to see anyone else - Chooks aren't great on communication via their club website one has to say - read about this on another site
