I think we're very slim odds to beat the Storm this week, but I don't mind that. Still have quite a few players out, and our young spine is gonna need a bit of time. Even if we lose somewhat convincingly, I won't be too bothered. Just so long as we keep seeing incremental improvements and put in a strong effort.

Our side has a lot to offer, and if we peak at the pointy end of the season, I think we can worry the Panthers and Bunnies. The win over the Sharks has given us a bit of breathing room too, so as long as we compete I won't mind too much if we go down on Friday.
Fair comments. I just hope we much their intensity, we usually lift it up a notch for these games.

I don’t normally take much notice of ref appointments cause if you play well you more than likely win. But it is interesting that neither Cummings, Klein and Sutton were appointed to the match of the round. A changing of the guard maybe.

Well then maybe you can console me because I’ll be shattered.

Only cos big bad Lindsay Collins is back. Fletch will get his chance this year. Don't like the reserve not getting at least some gametime though.

Just a matter of not being able to win every game, and knowing it's a marathon not a sprint. Plenty of players to come back, and plenty of improvement in our young fellas over the next few months.

I actually really like our forward rotation as is...

The footwork of Isaac and SioSua will wear down opposition packs, we then sub on the aggressive animals that are JWH and Collins who will just punch holes right up the middle all night on a tired middle.

Or if the starters can't gain the upper hand on the opposition starting pack, JWH and Collins will bring back momentum like JWH did last week.

I hope to see it trialled as is for this week.

After watching the Bears the other day, I was very impressed with Abbey and Santini. Abbey is a fullback with speed and vision to find space, and from what I heard can also play in the halves. Santini at left centre was very good at making breaks but needs to learn some patience because he bombed a few tries trying to push that last pass. Hopefully we wont lose them and Robbo can get them ready for a for some NRL experience soon.

True mate - summed them up well!

Neither I believe are on Rooster contracts (Abbey was on a trial and train agreement but not sure how long that lasts) - otherwise they are just contracted to the bears on year to year deals, hoping to impress and get a roosters upgrade if the opportunity arises (eg the Marshke twins).

Robbo attends most reserve grade games when possible so always a great opportunity for these guys - sometimes you can find a genuine first grader hiding out there and it has just taken the right person to find them or it took them a while to develop to the next level for whatever reason. Players like Davey for Manly didn’t debut till he was 28 - which makes his injury this year even more devastating for him.

I guess that’s why its our feeder arrangement is important as we bring in our own talent but we also rely on some of the recruitment choices of the feeder team for the rest of their squad as we may actually need or use them down the track

Early mail: Benjamin Marschke is cleared to play after winning his appeal at the judiciary for a grade-one crusher tackle. Coach Trent Robinson has rated Lindsay Collins a “slim” chance of taking the field as he races to overcome an ankle injury.

Great attitude to have. I’m wanting only to see incremental improvements. Hoping for no more injuries or concussions.

If Lindsay is a "slim chance" to play , and he is not right, there's no point in risking him for this match.
The roosters have a tough draw commencing in a few weeks time, and its important to get our share of wins in these games.
Lindsay ,Cords and Sam V will bolster our pack immensely down the track , that is what you need to keep in mind.
If we are competitive in this week's Storm match, that is all I want to see.
Being short on forward power , plus having our rookie halves up against it, means I am not expecting miracles.
Ice, SST, JWH, Gus, and Rads , and our experienced backs, should be able to keep the Storm honest- hopefully.
