I wonder if he’d like an assistant job. He’s done a reasonable job with the sharks in a very ugly situation. A few years under Robbo would complete his coaching education & see him ready for another shot when one comes up.

seriously dude got dudded as much as pay.
he inherited a reasonable squad, on a downware slide, with salary cap penalties after dickhead flanagan. he did a great job.
get him to the chooks, assistant coach.
also he doesn't come across as a prick.

Morris was more than dudded he's been removed as coach of the Sharks effective immediately - Josh Hannay will takeover as interim coach which is strange as he's out the door at the end of the year.
The text message simply said Morris was no longer the coach and to report to training as usual on Thursday.

I'd stay clear. Not worth the drama from the fallout of his sacking and if he is really poor with decision making etc then yeah "indecisiveness" is not something we need.
Would Cooper Cronk be a suitable replacement as an assistant coach next year ? I'm sure coaching is on his radar (future) at some point so why not from next season ? He gets to stay in Sydney, work with the last club he played for, became a life-member for and learn, study and develop under arguably the best coach in the comp !Last edited by DP1990; 04-14-2021, 03:26 PM.

I don't think Cooper would knock back Robbo and/or Uncle Nick if they asked him nicely lol

Yeah I think we should swap I think the guy would fit in well if he and Trent get on then good stuff.
I’ve liked all his interviews , the Sharks are a dodgy club and Morris was too good for them.
I hope Fitzy is getting good money and it’s good contract.

They mentioned that Fitzgibbon will need to deal with a board who have ambitions for the Sharks club to be the biggest in Sydney - a Sydney Version of the Bronco's some what no less and think they have some right to interfere in football coaching matters and team selections.
Some of the Directors wanted Fifita back in the side but Morris wouldn't do it as Fifita can't play the minutes needed and something about medically retiring him which didn't go down well with a few board members. - so not indecisive
Fitzgibbon will have a ton of pressure on him from the board to achieve results (premiership at least 1) and the buck will stop with him in other words.- get offside with particular board members at your own peril is what i gather as well.
Fitzy's on a hiding to nothing i gather as he needs results from the get go from season 1 - no Robinson or Politis as backups /shields. You can see what type of people the board and CEO are telling Morris and his Manager that Morris is still in the Mix to coach past 2021 - when all along he wasn't.
Fitzy was offered the Warriors jobs but declined - moving to another country wasn't an option - knocked back the Dragons as well last year but takes up the Sharks one -strange decision - Dragons would have been a better option being from the Illawarra half of the JV and living in the area.
Sure it was said he was honouring the last year of his contract with the Roosters in 2021 but i am sure they would have released him to take up the Dragons one.
Cronk is doing consultant work and i can't see him doing anything more in this area other than this - he will be like Sterlo and not coachLast edited by King Salvo; 04-14-2021, 01:50 AM.

given their injuries and the fact that he's paying for the earlier mistakes in roster management morris did alright at the sharks. with the tiniest bit of luck they could have been 4 from 5 this season. when you hear him talk on media he comes across as a straightforward likeable guy. if robbo wanted him as assistant coach i'd welcome it

IMO it is the perfect place and time to start his coaching career.
Can totally see him with his stupid headband, sitting down in a chequered shirt and chinos, sipping on his almond, turmeric and broccoli latte while showing some bug-eyed fools some BS ideas on an Apple laptop. 'Hey let's do another thinking sprint coz... YOLO... right!!! I have the waterfall right here... have you followed PRINCE2? O...M...G it will change your life... massive value add!'
To think he was once this big man at the Tigpies. His one redeeming point is that he always stands up in tackles. Which would be great... if he didn't get pushed back 20m while doing so and take 5 minutes to play the ball.
