There is an hilarious story in the Daily Telegraph today. The mother of Morris has come out swinging against the Sharks. This has become embarrassing. Fitzy should not get involved with that shit show imo but good luck to him.

Reported last night that the sharks are probably in one of the best financial position in a long time, own their ground, funding from the development of units. GM and operations manager who make the tough decisions to cut the “nice guy” so they can get better results on the field, fitzy may have 4mil to spend, watch out panthers and roosters players with contracts ending.

They have a long history of this. I really like John Morris and he was one of the few Tigers players who never made my skin crawl.

I remember when they sacked Stuart Raper and his little girl was taken to hospital as they thought she had appendicitis. Turns out she was having panic attacks and anxiety after being bullied at school from nasty fans. Who'd want to be a coach there?

Honestly unless you are really skilled or really ambitious who would want to be a first grade coach? Especially at shit clubs where they expect the coach to quickly improve a team that has been a rabble for 5, 10 years or even longer. Pass. Not to mention they will turn on that coach after a certain number of losses and bad press.

I guess you don't know unless you try?

Why are Wayne, Bellamy and Robbo so successful? IMO some of it's due to the circumstances (i.e. all 3 inherited VERY goo squads). However, all 3 have built on that, becomes used to dealing with superstar players, grown their tactics on the job...etc.

In my mind there's always the question of whether any of them would be as good if they'd started out at dud clubs with deadbeat players. On the same note though... I think it's easy to forget that all 3 have had significant leaners/d!ckheads on their rosters and survived. Some of it's gotta be luck but at the same time, you make your own luck.

              Food for thought:
              - Wayne's coaching beat NSW most recently, not QLD's brilliance.
              - Bellamy's coaching couldn't win against Cronk/Slater/Smith/Inglis...etc. We'll never really know why. I mean I wish NSW could use his services and win the same percentage of games as the Drizz!
              - Robbo's just really steady and IMO has the perfect balance when it comes to love/firmness. It seems strange/harsh at times but IMO he's never any harsher (or more generous) than what's necessary... he's fair and seems to make the best decision every time (rather than the most popular, nicest or harshest).

Exactly and that is why that story about Stuart Raper's daughter still upsets me and sticks in my mind. It's a dirty job but someone has to do it. Just said to my boss at least he won't lose his hair over it...

Money like they will never earn anywhere else in their lives would be a major reason plus all of them have been involved in footy all their lives & to go down to the park with the boys would be fun whilst getting paid very good money.

I agree except you can also make really good money as an assistant with a lot less pressure and possibly a longer career. Some dude's are just more ambitious and competitive too.

Major refurbishment of their club and ground from the revenue they get from the development- I think i read they will have a income stream of 10 to 15 mill each year from the development ongoing so will be in a more stable financial positions.

I did go to their old club after games vs the Chooks a few times as a couple of mates are Sharkies - but you have drive to get there and back.

I don't have a great regard for them as they would always play that Chicken Song when the Chooks ran out and the Ground Announcer was always ribbing the Chooks. paper bags/ glamour boys etc

MC Hammerhead and Mr Sharkie would gang up on Rocky the Roosters as well - maybe trying to eat him - Rocky the Roosters or whatever his name was then and Mark the Magpie seemed to get on okay though

His chin is too big. Looks like The Joker.

I prefer an assistant with no chin.

Exactly! That story has haunted me since then. I'm sure she's a well adjusted young lady now but I'm not so sure about myself!

Self entitled fans blaming the coach or sticking it to his family when they don't win.
