I went with a friend 2 weeks ago to check it out. Minor renovations done to cater to what seems to be the elite
clientele. Bistro gone. Replaced with al a carte restaurant. Extremely overpriced. Arties bar is small with average menu which I thought was a little pricey too. The Legends bar is closed, being renovated to accommodate more gaming. The Leagues Club of days gone by is definitely gone. It doesn’t cater to the average joe anymore. Unless you have a large bank account and love playing the pokies you will be very disappointed. I for one was.

I find clubs depressing as a middle aged man and I have no doubt I’ll find them depressing as an elderly man. No bingo for me thanks.

Thanks for the update RC. I really hate poker machines as the noise and lights bother me. I can't even remember the last time I went in there and I'm only 15 mins away.

The old Chinese restaurant...lol..Great food there.

Brings back great memories. Remember dancing with Bunny Reilly and Bill Mullins on the dance floor there when I was just a little kid. Geez they were nice blokes and very friendly to my family and friends' family. Haven't seen the new Artie's bar, but the displays and photo's are pretty fantastic. I don't get all the hate.

I actually tried to enter Souffs juniors a few months back and I was wearing a Roosters polo. The lady at the entrance (built like a mack truck) wouldn't let me enter lol...some lame reason. Anyway, that hole looked hopeless compared to Easts Leagues.

Bumped into Ronny Coote quite a few times - at his Maccas, petrol station, wherever. Always happy to have a chat about the footy and especially Easts. Really friendly and good bloke - loved him as a kid. Still do.

The old Chinese restaurant...even if it was packed you only had a short wait for a table....bout 5 or 10 minutes.

Hard to disagree with that. Places filled with gaming and poker machines are awful. I remember once in about 1997 I was tripping hard on LSD and spent an hour or so wandering around Penrith Leagues Club. It was like walking through a maze of corpses. That was back when people would smoke cigarettes while they played. I don't understand the appeal of this kind of shithole at all.

I went last December just to activate my membership and received vouchers so i used them in the bistro and had a pleasant enough lunch, this was not long before they closed the bistro for the major reservations. Had a look at the menu on line for the new restaurant , what a rip off price wise, cannot see any of the pokie players heading up there for lunch or dinner.

The days of an overpriced a la carte restaurant being attractive in an RSL/Leagues Club are over imo. There too many better choices these days.

Maybe you only thought you were at Penrith League's though?

They live in Souths territory. Maybe their fridge was stolen.

You have to keep the riff raff out somehow though - if Souffs Vermin had a club it would be gournet hotdogs / KB and Brandivino in fancy glasses and thongs/t-shirts/shorts/trackies and beanies allowed up to 11pm. Oh and a smoking room with complimentary winnie red and blue's.

Actually I remember when they had cigarette promotions in clubs they had ladies walking around offering your cigarettes to try -new brands mostly

Ha yeah. Can't remember the full details but it sounds better when I say it the way I did.

That's it, I asked if I can get in with my Roosters card as I thought all clubs accepted other clubs member cards. She said the Roosters card wont let me in and that I have to sign up to Souffs iuniors club if I wanted to get in. I just walked out.

                                She was a real grouch.
