Sure it will be exciting to see how he goes but not at the expense of the development of real prospects who could be here long term.

If he was going to sign I’d like to see him commit to next year too. Or would we be better of using this money towards a league player?
Promoting a youngster who's not ready could be detrimental to their development. Simply putting someone in the top grade is not development.

If Robinson is looking for more playmaking in his 17 theres very little in the Rugby league world who would jump ship in the next month and we have already exhausted our own internal depth.

At worst we get a very experienced, professional athlete who will add to our internal team culture and bring some new eyeballs for all a sponsors for a minimal fee and will leave at the end of the season meaning the next kid up who has earned his opportunity in the lower grades can take his spot.

At best we add to our very thin playmaking stocks with a really talented player who elevates the teams ability and he stays on.

Reality probably lies somewhere in the middle but the risk is just so small here given the situation we find ourselves in. I don't get the negativity.

Be interesting if he has some tips and tricks about holding onto the ball in a Faders/Drizz-style maul without losing potency. He'd know a few tricks I reckon...

Not negative just giving an opinion. If the club signs him I’ll support him and be excited to watch him. Either way with or without him we aren’t winning the competition this season so I’d rather we see guys who are around long term get first grade experience. Yeh I know “simply putting someone in the top grade” isn’t development. But guys like Ben M and Freddy and Hutch and Adam K are first graders according to Robbo so why not use this year to make them better and more experienced players? A short term fix that won’t lead to much doesn’t excite me.

Round 6 and the season's already over because we had a not so bad loss to the Drizz under absurd injury/reffing conditions? Right-o.

I get that we have injuries but ANYTHING can happen from here!!! We could beat the Dragons, Knights, Eels and Cowboys in our next 4 games and be sitting solidly in the top-4 in a month's time (with all but Keary + Cords back on the field).

Pap isn't playing this week... he could be in trouble! We haven't played the Riff yet, maybe we'll beat them?!? There's so many unknowns!!! All I know is that with that kinda attitude, we're not gonna go anywhere. However if we turn up with the attitude we had last week (combined with better execution) then we will put most teams to the sword on a weekly basis.

Sorry but agree with Thirteen here . Do you seriously believe we van win the comp this year. None of this airy fairy stuff about anything can happen .But judging on our team without Jake , Luke and perhaps Cords. Such inexperience halves , Hooker we are playing for pride not trophies ,

It’s BS and a man of your intelligence knows it. I will support the team as alway and I will attend every single game apart from Round 9 as I’ll be away. But take the half back and the hooker out of any team and they are no chance. Plus other injuries as well as our Captain on borrowed time. I wish I was wrong but we all know we aren’t winning anything this year. I would love nothing more than to be wrong. PLEASE!

                Jmoz
                Manu
                Bmoz
                TJ
Walker (with 20+ games under his belt)
                SST
                Verrills
                Collins
                Cords
                Crichton
                Rads

                JWH
                Liu
                Butcher
                Sitili
                etc.

IMO that team can win the premiership this year.
As I have stated before much depends on whether we have that team available come September.
But the same for any team winning a comp in any year.
And I doubt Robbo would entertain getting TJ if he thought we had no hope this year.
We need luck when it comes to injuries which is something we haven't had the last two years. So Yes if we lose another one or two key players our chances diminish greatly.
But to think we are making up the numbers this year with a possible line-up like that shows little faith in Robbo and the team.

                • yep, and the point isn't whether we can win the comp. the point is whether we're a club that spits the dummy in april cos we've had a couple of injuries.

                    • I have read every post and think, on balance, he could be a very good signing. I haven't given up on this season's prospects, but it isn't going to be easy. I look forward to watching him arrive with much interest.

Some people believe supporting the Roosters
is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed
with that attitude. I can assure you it is
much, much more important than that.

                      • Sydney Roosters are closing in on signing former All Black halfback TJ Perenara as a back-up hooker after the sudden retirement of club champion Jake Friend.

The Perenara deal is going to happen but first the 69-Test All Black needs to complete his Japanese rugby union commitments until May 23.

Then he’ll have to go through two weeks quarantine before joining the Chooks so realistically we won’t see Perenara playing in the NRL until mid-June at the earliest.

The Roosters are confident the rugby union halfback will make the transition to playing in the middle of the field in rugby league. Perenara will most likely become the Chooks no.14.

Some pretty inexperienced halves there. One who’s never played the game.

And sadly the chance of actually getting the full squad together with no injuries is very unlikely.

He's taking Keighran's spot though as a lot on here had Keighran either playing 5/8 or as the number 14 and Goal kicker. - Looks like Keighran is last weeks news now.

Especially now that Keighran has a fractured eye socket - be out from 4 to 10 weeks depending if surgery is required.
