More Dally M farce

I know this topic has been flogged to death, but the credibility of the award is taking a hammering.
I’m sure many of us would’ve watched the Tigers-souffs game and Tigers led and nearly won had it not been for Reynolds 2 point field goal , and they won it in golden point, yet no Tigers player was deserved of a point. The grub got 3c Murray 2 and Burgarse 1. Not even Reynolds without whom they wouldn’t be in a position to win it.
V’Landys has been quick to implement rules for the so called betterment of the game. How about a system to address the credibility of the award that’s supposed to acknowledge the best in our game. The old RLW system whereby every player gets a rating out of 10 is the best and fairest system I can think of.

Exactly right. I have been sceptical for a while now. When we lose, we rarely get a vote but, when we win, the opposition quite often gets at least one vote.

You often look at some of the judges used in disbelief.

I think the issue lies in the fact we're not very likeable. We're a rich, successful team that in most people's eyes has absolutely no right to cry poor about anything in life. Thus...
- When we win it's nothing amazing... it's just expected.
- When we lose there's a bit of a 'suck shyte' kinda vibe rather than 'oooh but they tried hard and did well... for a lesser team!'
- If the game's close, people who aren't fans will be hanging on the edge of their seat, cheering for the opposition to win (and it will seem amazing to them that our opponent can dance with us... rather than amazing that we're still in it despite having 8 players out).

As fans we all know that way more goes into our (overall) successful culture and that our boys work extra hard to keep our game up to scratch.

If Latrell or anyone else came back from suspension & played unreal footy & scored the most points in the Dally M's then he should be crowned Dally M player of the year.

It should be scrapped as it doesn’t truly reflect the real best consistent player of the year. We go back to Keary not getting a point when he was judged as best on field by 99% of people. Luai was man of the match on Ch9 yet didn’t poll a point in the Dally Ms. Tigers don’t have a player poll a single point despite leading most of the game yet their fullback get a point against us when we absolutely smashed them. There are countless similar examples.
Whoever is judging and allocating points will always have their sentiments cloud their judgment, especially ex players who have developed strong friendships amongst players and at previous clubs they’ve played at.
Joel Cain from SEN proposed a system which is somewhat more acceptable than the current one, anything is better than the current rubbish we’re given.
PS: Lattrell has 13 points, how many does Reynolds have? Where’s the fairness in that?
