  • Official ANZAC Day Match Thread: Roosters v Saints

Take a moment to picture yourself as an 18 year old kid, about to disembark from a boat and land on Gallipoli. Knowing that your chance of survival was minimal. Knowing that you may never see your loved ones again.

Today is the day we honour those that have fought for this country in all battles. Those that have lost their lives and those that have survived.

These people are the reason we have such wonderful freedom and opportunity. We owe them much respect. We thank them.

And remember, the event that will happen at the SCG today, is just a game!

    GO ROOSTERS!

At the Kings Beach dawn service today they spoke of the Heroic Generation. Those born in shadows of WW1, raised in the depression, they fought in the biggest military conflict in history WW2, then came home to build what is today modern Australia. We owe all the men and women who have put their lives on the line in defence of this country so much. Lest We Forget

Thank you for the thread and touching words Thirteen, great stuff. It is just a game in the scheme of things, absolutely, but I hope that we put in a fitting performance given the spectacle and make everyone associated with us proud. I am looking forward to seeing Sam back, and how the other Sam handles and rises to the occasion. Easts by 8.

I hope that this wonderful tradition never dies. We will remember them. Lest we forget.

Some people believe supporting the Roosters
is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed
with that attitude. I can assure you it is
much, much more important than that.

Thanks Thirteen. I've never seen 14 likes on a post before and I've just made it 15 (I held the previous record with 12 I think )

Every year I just get more and more sad on ANZAC Day as I get older myself. I really wish my dad could have sat down and had a beer with some of you on here. He'd be really happy I've made good friends like Thirteen, Horrie, Andy and Jack (he'd be giving the latter 2 racing tips whether they like it or not, something I inherited from him - Selino and Realm of Flowers are my current favourites to watch ). Even though he was a Parramatta fan, a lot of his favourite players were from Easts anyway like Artie, Johnny Peard & Kevin Hastings. I currently work with a couple of Dragons fans and we all agree that today's result is superfluous to the event it represents. Enjoy the sunshine and rejoice that the game is back on. This time last year, many of us were experiencing unemployment, ill health and uncertainty in general. I do hope everyone on here is in a better place today.

                          Nice post RWB.

For the footy part today I think its about an even money bet. Dragons at $3 seems generous.

I'll put my Easts goggles on though and say:
                          Easts win 22-18
                          Lindsay Motm
Sitili to get a meat pie.

                            Yep well said 13.

Jack, the betting a couple of days ago had us at 1.60 and dragons 2.50, so a lot of money has come in for us. I wonder why??

Maybe they have a late out not hitting the media?
