He was ankle tapped though and fell belly first and lost possession with the ball going touch in goal so unlucky in that case - But good work by Hutch to be in support though despite not scoring.

Nothing will ever beat Marty Kennedy's falcon off the kick off when he tripped in-goal.

I wonder how Marty is enjoying prison. What a waste of talent.

Jailed for 4 years with a non parole period of 2 years and 6 months - eligible for parole in April 2022 - Originally given a 3 year good behavior bond which was appealed thus the sentence of 4 years.

Maybe Hayne will be in the same prison as Kennedy with both joined possibly by De Belin if i am reading his second trial progress correctly.

De Belin will be facing a longer jail term than Hayne one would say if found guilty - of course Hayne will appeal once sentenced on May 6th and no doubt De Belin will as well but they both will be in jail pending their appeals - no bail i assume would be granted once they are sentenced.

          Non Parole periods
          • sexual assault (s 61I) — 7 years (14 years maximum sentence) - Hayne
          • aggravated sexual assault (s 61J) — 10 years ( 20 years max sentence )
          • aggravated sexual assault in company (s 61JA) — 15 years (30 years maximum sentence) - De Belin

Its got to be even worse in there knowing you have blown your youth and your chances of athletic success. The height of Hayne's fall has been tremendous. Kennedy wasn't in the same class but he farking blew it.

Two narrow finals defeats had naught to do with not having two running halves though or one not taking the line on - 28 unanswered points vs Penrith ( up 10 -0 and lose 29-28 ) and 16 unanswered points vs Raiders ( down 16 nil and lose 22-18) - defence cost those games - Raiders game Chooks had a number of opportunities in the second half but couldn't nail them.
Organising and running are not mutually exclusive. Pearce, Cronk, and Keary were all effective organisers and effective runners.

It seems lost on you that SBW was rushed into the side to cover for Flanagan's ineptness. Did you even notice SBW stepping in at 1st or 2nd receiver, running to the line and attracting defenders, before passing the ball? We ended up with Keary left, and SBW right, and Flanagan making up the numbers in case we needed to kick a goal.

That threat attracts defenders and hence creates space for those on the outside. If you don't have two decent running halves then the opposition will absolutely heavily mark the other half as you describe, and as what happened last year.

Think back to our successes over the years. It was always when we paired up good running halves (Carney, Maloney, Keary). Each time we paired with an impotent running half (Anasta, Hastings, Flanagan) we ended up underperforming.
I liked your comment Dice but then thought - fck we are forgetting Cronk so quickly? Couldn’t run out of sight on a dark night by the time he got to us - but we had quiet a good deal of success with him.....

The year before he got to us Cronk was clocked as fastest man on field at 34 km/h in one of the SOO games.

My comment was not necessarily about blistering speed though. SBW was brought back to threaten the line. Freddy didn't have blistering speed either but could certainly threaten the line with his big frame and footwork. You saw young Walker's footwork on the weekend. The opposition will start to mark him tighter which means there will be more space on his outside. Actually that try he setup for Butcher was exactly that. Walker attracted two defenders and passed the ball into space.

That's one of the best ones yet SBW was in the side to play Flanno's role - as Fatty Vauntin would say that will do me

Your response very predictable. I would not expect you to understand that Flanno's running game was so inept that Robbo would beg SBW to fill that gap.

Do you still believe your salary cap pressure theory?

Comparing Hutch to Cronk sure is stretching the bow!

Since your on speaking terms with Robbo " SBW was brought back to threaten the line." - can you ask him what's doing with DSF as i hear he's on the nose at the Chooks and has been banished to reggies for an extended period.

Wasn't actually the case of attracting two defenders it was case of feint wide and turn it inside- the 2 Dragon forward defenders were basically having a bludge thinking the play was going the other way and didn't adjust (one had a lazy arm grab even) or react and a third forward defender then came in to make the tackle the two others should have made which left an open passage for Butcher to receive the pass and score.

Remember feint wide and turn it inside as you can catch out the lazy defenders

But Walker would have taken his spot at some point early in the season I would have guessed.
Yeah we got bagged mercilessly for suggesting Sam Walker should be in the side ahead of Lam. Now I can’t see Lam coming in for even Hutch.

Petulant words games and discrediting of MOM Walker. Walker has threatened the defensive line more in a few games than Flanagan did in all of 2020.
