Looking at the quality of that team, you'd be brave or foolish to give them no chance of giving this competition a decent shake. With Boyd and possibly an international guest star to join the team in the run home to the finals, on their day they can beat anyone. I note that Jamie Soward doesn't rate them and puts them on a par with Manly. He says they can't match it with Penrith, Melbourne and Souffs. He might be right, but who knows what injuries these teams might face if their luck runs out.

I'm sure Robbo is reinforcing the same message that he always has - "We play for Premierships".

This is a very strong team, with Cordner, Keighran and Lam still to come back. It’s getting better.

when we were favourites to win the comp we took it one game at a time - it will be the same mantra now

Sorry, cut & past error. Yes, Verrills starting at 9.

                Now fixed.

If a badly broken rib, give baker another run and leave SST out, we shouldn't need him.

I agree Spirit. A few weeks a go I did not think we could match it with the heavyweights of the competition, but I am starting to think differently now.
You look at our forward pack and we have Collins, Verrills, Sitili, Chrichton & Rads.
All young guys who seem to improve every game, and at that age , their self- beleif has no limits.
So much for the aging roster
Watching that Annzac day game, you could sense the intensity of Sitili, Rads, and Collins in the forwards.
Our team is a rung under Melbourne and the Panthers at the moment, but it will be interesting to see if our players develop even further over the next 18 weeks.
                    Then, anything is possible.

Keighran has been named at 9 for the Bears.

Yeah interesting one JFC! Must want him more as a back up 9 than half. Will be interesting if he gets any time in the backrow at the bears. Also he seems to have slipped behind Ben Marschke in the pecking order - but Ben has been great and deserves to hold his spot. What a great development from Ron Massey Cup to NRL in less than half a season.

Also great to have the bears strengthened by more Roosters associated players - especially in the forwards. Should see more consistency from them the more everyone stays fit in firsts and seconds. I would say Iku and Baker will be 18th and 19th man for NRL so won’t play but add them to the mix for future bears games plus possibly B Marschke (or Lam when he returns), Billy Smith and Lussick when they return, and even Nat Butcher when Cordner returns one forward has to be pushed out. We have lost a few but fingers crossed for luck with health for the rest of the year and there is still a lot of quality in-house competition - and the bears could have pretty decent team down the track.

The bears play the knights before our game on Saturday. Here is the rest of the team for those interested:

                        1 Abbey
                        2 Carr
                        3 Suaalii
                        4 Satini
                        5 Hopoate
                        6 J.Marshke
                        7 Ralph
                        8 Fifita
                        9 Keighran
                        10 Hau Tapuha
                        11 Whyte
                        12 E.Butcher
                        13 Bailey

                        14 Gardiner
                        15 Key
                        16 B.Thomas

If we sign TJ and have better luck with injuries our team at the end of the year could look something like the below - pretty decent:

                          1 Teddy
                          2 Toops
                          3 J Moz
                          4 Manu
                          5 B Moz
                          6 Hutch/Lam
                          7 Walker
                          8 SST
                          9 Verrills
                          10 Collins
                          11 Cordner
                          12 Gus
                          13 Radley

                          14 Perenara
                          15 Sitili
                          16 JWH
                          17 Liu

Any news on Ronald Volkman and why he hasn’t been named in any grade?

Is his concussion serious enough to keep him out for 2 weeks?
