I was at the game and struggled to pick out the lesser known players. The team sheet only listed the top 17

We have some good depth in the forwards and exciting young backs. However, I fear our attack this year. Get used to the 3 dummy half runs, 2 hit ups and the bomb
It worked for St George for 3 years. I really don't care if we advance the footy using the force, as long as we show it respect and are consistent, we have enough attacking options to score points.

    Chook.

Thanks Yak. Really appreciate your efforts. I was desparately trying to find some info on the game and I knew I could rely on someone from the Chookpen to deliver.

Mad Morley, I think that is why I enjoyed Kheirallah's performance so much. When he was at 7 he used his kicking game to build pressure and was very accurate. Even the chip over the top looked well thought out and was regained easily. Would've like to see him break through the line because he is our quickest half by a country mile. Unfortunately when Pearce came out grubbers to the in-goal went out the window. I think Pearce could take a lesson from what Kheirallah did yesterday. It was a shame he had those two knock ons because other than that I thought he was excellent.

Who is this Lane bloke (forgot his first name) played in the centers for Newtown ?my mates said he was unreal ,best player and the fastest thing he has ever seen.

Great write up. I'm looking forward to seeing Bosden and Bordner mature this year.

Surely Smith will go with Moga in round 1.

Good point Yak. I made the same observation to my brother at the game. I said to him that would be the first and last repeat set for the year because our starting halves don't build that kind of pressure.

MK had a decent game. Lively character

I'll add my appreciation and gratitude to Yak for taking the time to share his impressions of the players. Love your work matey.
With so many backrowers, how is coach smith going to fit them all in without upsetting someone? What a headache to have.

Brett Lane. He was the regular Jets left centre last year and was an exceptional schoolboy talent who played lower grades with us before going to Balmain. Scored two intercept tries yesterday Running the length of the field. Has a knack for long range tries. I've never seen him caught from behind. He has an excellent step through the line too. Would need to do a lot and for a long time to be considered for first grade, such is the stigma of being a Newtown contracted player. Jason McGrady was also excellent in his time at fullback.

Brett Lane is a Bondi United junior and played lower grades with us. Left us & played for Tigers feeder club - Ryde/Eastwood.
This is season three for him at the Jets. He was going to head north this year & play Qld Cup but must have changed his mind.

He did show a clean pair of heels y'day to score two 80m tries in the pouring rain.
