  • Matt Lodge

Phil Rothfield just said on NRL 360 that Matt Lodges manager offered him to the Roosters at a cut price deal for this year in response to Lindsay Collins knee Injury. This comes as it is well known that the Broncos are looking to cut him loose so hes on the front foot.

Hmmm. I’ll cop flack for it, and fair enough, it’s a left field opinion...but I’d actually take him. He’s definitely done some stupid stuff and I’m not a massive fan in the slightest, but him off the bench could be interesting. Rotation with JWH, a bit more mongrel and a prop with a solid run game. I’d be intrigued. In saying that, most players if they were to come to our club, would thrive, so it’s not like he’d be a massive make or break player for us.

Absolutely bloody well no! I don't care how desperate our situation ever becomes, he would be the last, and I mean the last, player I would ever want us to sign - period! Boy do I hope that nothing comes of that. It would be the absolute pits. Fortunately, I cannot ever see it happening.

Penrith are reportedly interested in signing him for 2022 - I understand he has a 2 year option in his favour for 2022 and 2023 at the Broncos- Bronc's are looking to offload some players.

Yes please. Would be good in a good side with a good coach. Hard to get past the history of violence though.

I’d take him. I’ll cop flack for it and I’m probably speaking out of line, but I think he’d be a decent stop gap for this season (assuming he’s only coming here for this season then Penrith 2022 onward). Runs hard, good mongrel to him and would be solid in a rotation with JWH/TKO. I know he’s done some dumb s**t before and my opinion was low of him for that, but from a Roosters perspective, he’d be an interesting signing to fill in for Lindsay.

Matt Lodge is Martin Kennedy mk2.

Slow, cumbersome, mentally suspect on the field.

Only difference is Kennedy wasn't an arrogant nutcase.

Then throw in the fact that the Lodge style of prop has become incrementally less effective as the game has evolved to be played at a faster pace.

Crap idea. Hopefully Rothfield is full of shite yet again.

Kennedy did love his illegal animal sale here and there though!

Nope. Apart from lacking the character passport, his form this year isn't as good as our fringe players from what I've seen.

we wouldn't want him for next year so you'd figure he's more likely to go to a club where he can find a long term home but if we could use boyd's 350k to sign him then hard to argue against if the club thinks they can work with him

By cut price, I hope they mean he will pay us to allow him to put on the RWB

No thanks, been a poor player in a very poor side. Leg speed and mobility is so crucial in the modern day game and Lodge is found to be lacking in these areas.

I think Robinson will back himself to get one of Fifita or Baker up to speed as a 4th choice prop.

Now if they want to let Payne Haas go......

I’d prefer to develop Fletcher Baker. He has a lot of potential and, to the best of my knowledge, is not a piece of human garbage.
