gf is a long way away and a lot can happen but we're tracking nicely to get the best out of what we've got. one game at a time ...

Thank you zac. On the money again.
It would be the greatest GF win ever for the Chooks if it happened.

I've watched a shit tonne of footy in my time and I am a very astute analyst.

What sets us apart? Our boys REALLY play for each other. They are a really tight unit, and our team and coaching leadership command total and utter respect among our young guns. They have totally bought in. That is more important than individual talent let me tell you (although we just happen to have that as well).

We've got the right guys at the top - what a bunch of mentors our lads have - Uncle Nick, Robbo, Cronk, Fitzy, Cords, Friendy, BMoz....even the likes of SBW & Mini also stopping by on occasion. Imagine being a young player and being taken under their wing. Where else would you rather be in the world of RL as a talented young footy player? Nowhere else, and thats a fact.

Our lads are turning up every week really backing each other and really believing they can do it, regardless of the odds and regardless of reputations.

Only the Storm and the Panthers are close to our level in this regard.
Your not giving enough credit to the heavy weights of the comp that being the top 3. If the Chooks are at full strength Im with you but losing 5 now 7 players for the season & 2 of them being the spiritual leaders & losing them suddenly is to much of an impact. Sure they are playing their hearts out but they havnt beaten or even come close to beating the heavy weights. To put it in perspective if the Chooks had B Smith Hughes Munster & Hynes/Papenhausen or Cook Reynolds Walker & Trell & the Chooks were playing the team coming 5th with a spine of Verrills S Walker Hutch & Teddy dont tell me that you would think the Chooks would loss.
Experience & a fully fit team wins the comp not a team devastated by 7 season ending injuries. Tell me when a team who have 7 top line players out ever won the comp.

The Chooks are not the only team who REALLY play for each other. Theres another club who have no injuries & are leading the comp who are a super tight unit & their team and coaching leadership command total & utter respect from everyone in their organisation.

It has to be a Steve Bradbury situation for the Chooks to win the comp this year.

I think it will come down to who can field their best side come the finals. If Melbourne are full strength they will get it done again. But if they’re missing Hughes or to a lesser extent Grant I think they may be matched.

Penrith need Cleary at 90% at the least to be contenders. Everything revolves around him. They look a shadow of themselves without his direction, kicking and line engagement.

Manly and Souths both have beatable packs with an even share of possession. I can’t see Melbourne getting beaten by Souths regardless of who’s in or out. They do the fundamentals too well. They’re inside pressure on Souths left side attack will make it completely impotent. And Souths don’t look like a side with a plan B or one that will be able to roll the Storm pack and play off quick play the balls.

Parra are absolute pretenders and have been for three years now.

We’ll have to have our best available side come finals and throughout. Our completion rate will have to be above 80% to be a chance against the top sides. A zero this week if the Panthers don’t have Clearly will make me much more confident about our defence. We have a lot of relatively new combinations defensively. Manu floating could be a huge x-factor for us in the finals. I think he has the potential to be a lesser version of our Turbo in terms of breaking open a game at will with size and strength. But realistically I don’t think we’ll have enough in us to beat a full strength Storm, Panthers or Rabbits. Would be an incredible achievement to make a prelim for mine.

Great post mate. Refreshing to see such real passion and willingness to put it out there and back your judgement.

If we do make that big dance, you deserve to be at the head of the queue celebrating.

Looking on from the back to back losses, I believed that the boys would do the job and they've done a tremendous job in rectifying those losses.

JWH is really having a great season, Teddy has stepped up in a big way, Manu showing his class and everyone else has done their part! Special mention to Sitili who for me has really grown as a player in attack!

I will forever back this team and I believe that anything is possible! Nothing can stop this team and its clear that the togetherness in this team is there from the start! If this group does do the impossible this would be the most impressive premiership victory of all time without a doubt.

Im not trying to wind anyone up Im just saying that Cooper Cronk feels that Wayne Bennett has got Souths peaking at the right time. He didnt say they would win the comp but his comment says he rates Souths.
Like Ive posted before for Souths to win the comp then Melbourne & Penrith cant be in the GF. I think Souths can make the GF but if they come up against Melbourne then good luck.

We are too ill disciplined to figure. Obviously with our injuries it's a bridge too far. The loss to Penrith was disapointing but the 46-0 loss to the Storm makes me realise how far away we are. First thing we need to fix is our discipline and defense. We are no chance.

Hear ye hear ye..Ladies and Gentlemen....hear me and hear me well.

We are on the precipice of a monumental achievement.

A match up v either the Sharks or Titans next week will be an easy win for our warlords in the RWB.

Let's see who we have back on deck after that.

The Raiders are a half decent team and we wiped the floor with them with a long list of players out.

The Sharks and Titans are also rans. I'd rate the Raiders over both.
The Rabbitohs are gone....without Latrell, done. If we play them again, we'll have Gus, JWH and Radley on field to show them who is boss. We'll have the edge.
Parra and the Knights are making up numbers....no threat
The Seagulls are a one man team. Take care of Turbo, and we are as good as gold

The Panthers and the Storm are the concern.

However, it matters not at this stage.

The fact remains, as i have said all along, we will be in the Grand Final in 2021.

Cheers to the Red White and Bloosters!

I actually agree with the sentiment and have thought for the last 4-6 weeks that this team is resilient enough and putting in monumental efforts that could reach the grand final but in all honesty I hope we don’t make it because I fear we will get hammered by Melbourne and much like 2017 this one might be worth sitting out.

This team with a dozen or so players out is still better than the majority of the competition, a few more key players back in the finals, blokes in the backline I’ve heard of, Hutch in form, I’d give them a chance on the day over everyone but Melbourne who are just on another level.

Maybe the inevitable flogging won’t be so bad since we will be incredible rank outsides if we make the big dance and nobody will expect us to win I just don’t want to give the carnts the satisfaction of squaring up the 2018 gf

I can see us in week three. Probably against Penrith to go to the big dance. Miracles happen.

the goal is to go as far as possible in the finals. we're not a favourite and if one of the top teams plays their best v us then it will be hard. our mission, should we choose to accept it, is to play our own game as well as possible so that with a bit of luck we can cause a few upsets. the first thing is to not look too far ahead - you can't win a comp in the first week of the finals but you can lose it. this is sudden death and the sharks or titans will give it everything they've got - we can worry about what's going to happen after that later

If we play Souths again it can only be in the prelim or GF. Millions.

Queue melon. One game at a time.
