Tough call to expect a player to come back from that kind of injury to play a gf. I need some panadeine forte just thinking about it

there's no law against being lucky. on paper we'll struggle v the best teams at full strength but injuries, sin binnings and suspensions could change things up. but none of that will matter if we don't win this week

They said 6 weeks recovery for Joey.

Someone may have come up with a generic 6 week recovery for a cheekbone injury but Joey’s is surely on the more serious end of the scale. Multiple fractures and plates, no way they’d risk it so soon IMO. Anyway we’ll probably never get to find out.

Whatever happens we have already won, just finishing 5th with a plethora of superstars gone means Robbo is coach of the year for mine. The young Roosters will be so much better next season and I believe we are seeing the makings of a juggernaut team. Our team for the finals will be strong and we have a sensational pack, we certainly have the team to beat the Titans, Manly and a Mitchell less vermin. All we need to do is improve our d, cut out silly errors and complete our sets, we generally improve when the finals start so here's hoping. EASTS TO WIN.

I like your post however I disagree by saying that we have already won by finishing 5th. I think our coach would be aiming for a deep finish in the playoffs and probably a GF appearance . He sets and expects the highest possible results.

What I'm saying is that we are the only club who could've remained competitive with so much experience missing.

So true and no sane person can deny it.

Melbourne didn’t miss a beat with quite a few players out but they didn’t have our injury toll; nobody else would be where we are even if you took out half of their equivalent talent to our injuries let alone 12 at one point. I think Melbourne would put up a fight though like we have.

Penrith had a handful of players missing and got smoked by the tigers lol Parramatta are pretenders anyway, Manly played worse with just Tom Turbo missing than we did against Souths with 12 missing plus injuries on the night. Souths had Reynolds and Latrell missing and got beat 50-0 and when they returned still got pumped 56-10 or whatever it was.

If we were at full strength we’d win the comp.

Great post and I fully agree. This has been a very successful year. I don't know how far we can go but its all gravy imo. Next year we will have an incredible squad after so many players have been blooded this year.

Definitely agree with this - great overview!

If we can just get our D right and cutting out the errors and just get through to completing the sets, I think we'll go a long way. But nonetheless, regardless of what happens this year, we will be bolstered next year with a bunch of young guns who had the opportunity to get game time this year. Next year they'll only get more confident with some of other boys returning.

I know what you-re saying Coggy but I will still be gutted if we lose at any point as even without some of our stars the young fellas have really stepped up and there is a sense of expectation.

The Titans have beaten literally nobody.
If we play Manly in week 2 I think we have their measure. Storm maybe not so much.
I also think we can beat Penrith or Souths in a prelim.
Then as much as I would be rapped making a GF, you can't walk away with a loss and not feel gutted.
But it has been a super year with all the young guns coming through and punching well above their weight.
If the injury jinx is over next year we'll be back to the glory days (touch wood).

Massive respect to all the boys that have played for us this year to get us to 5th.

Might sound shit but really not dissing anybody but we have some true budget players and they've stood up. What a bloody culture this place has !!!!!

Guys like Hutch I think on 120k , Marschke, Thomas and future superstar Egan Butcher. We can be well proud of the boys and don't know if you took a Cordiner, Bmoz, Friend or Keary out of another team if they'd even come close to 5th.
