No but after his first couple of good games down here, the Faiders faithful wanted to rename the bay in his honour! ‘John Bateman’s Bay’

The raiders did have a social media campaign jokingly suggesting that the town should have it's name changed to "John Batemans Bay." Don't think it got much traction...During 2019 the raiders were a disgrace for screaming at the ref, throwing their arms in the air pretending there was am error by the other side, laying down for penalties, and Hodgson and Bateman led the way. No way Hodgson fits in here.

As an aside, Stuart has a house down here 2 minutes from us at Surf Beach. During the off season see him at the local cafe every morning. Much the opposite from his cranky demeanour on TV he's actually a really nice bloke. Goes out of his way to talk to kids, gives everyone the time of day, and will talk footy with anyone.

Absolutely. He’s nothing like the guy you see in the pressers every week. To get to know Riscky outside of footy is an absolute pleasure.

He does need to chill a bit though as he comes across as someone who blames others for his mistakes/losses.

Only thing i can find is that the Dogs are interested in him if they cant sign Brandon Smith but nothing about the Chooks being interested which i would very much doubt they would be - Verrills/ Lussick and Benny M are the 3 Dummy Halves i would have on the books

That’s just blind loyalty talking there King - Hodgson is way better than the last two being lussick and ben and he is probably better than Sammy V as well. Hard to judge Sam - don’t get me wrong I wouldn’t swap him for Hodgson but we aren’t getting g much value out of Sam are we - hopefully it’s just been an unlucky stint if injuries. But I would swap Hodgson for the other two in a heartbeat if I was just looking at talent.

I have never rated Stuart, he inherited a premiership squad from Graham Murray, won a comp, and then took Wing out of halfback and replaced him with Finch..... what a fukking disaster that was. He has done nothing since then, thats 19 years. He is not a coach.

He was on the radio in Canberra yesterday noting that he wants to play on for 5+ years but can respect that it'll probably be from the bench.

I'd say 'make a move' but TBH:
- IMO he's a cheat. His biggest talent is getting a hand on the ball then wrenching it out once his forwards have ceremonially peeled off. That particular skillset's getting dry.
- Verrills is great! Losing Friend has a silver lining IMO because we can now retain Verrills a lot more easily. Lussick and Marschke have been good too. With both returning soon, I don't wanna hoard hookers then end ip with guys we've invested in developing playing for the Bears.
- We don't have much $$$ left and IMO if we're to make a June 30 signing, it has to be very strategic.
