If Sam keeps playing at the level he does now or even gets better he will offered a lot more than 1 mil a year by the Broncos or the new Brisbane franchise in 3 years. I don’t think he will be a Rooster long term.
2 years is better than nothing.

Robbo confirmed the extension in his presser, then doubled down on his comments about the refs. Legend of a man and absolutely wrapped weve locked in Sammy!!! Robbo mentioned the time was reflective of his age and keeping the hunger to continue developing.

Uncle Chris was very close to being a Roosters premiership player.
Former Bronco Chris Walker, the uncle of Roosters young gun Sam, has pointed the finger at Anthony Siebold ...
        ..it’ll be interesting to see

Everyone looks shorter on TV though

Great news, but I would have been more comfortable with a three year deal. To me, that is the sweet spot in terms of contractual terms. Mind you, we do not tend to approve longer term deals. I am sure we have our reasoning and know what we are doing. We never lose our man if we want to hang on to him badly enough.

Some people believe supporting the Roosters
is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed
with that attitude. I can assure you it is
much, much more important than that.

Yes, a 3 year deal would have been more comfortable. I guess it’s probably to do with the salary cap. Having quite a few players signed beyond 2023 the club will probably have to do some juggling towards the end of next year to try and extend Sam even further. I think Sualli has probably got to be considered in the juggling act. If Sam is happy with us in 12 months time as I would hope he would be, I can’t see any reason why he wouldn’t extend. The only thing I can see that might change his mind would be a new team in Brisbane or it his father and uncle got a NRL coaching job.

i'm okay with 2 years. 5 or even 10 would have been preferable but 2 is better than him going to another club.

the broncos have just paid 2m+ for reynolds for 3 years and you'd figure they would have paid more to get walker. we've got him for 2 years and we've got him for unders. and we've got the inside running to sign him beyond the 2 years
