I'm thinking something along the lines of:

    1. Mini
    2. Moga
    3. Leilua
    4. Aubusson
    5. Perrett
    6. Mortimer
    7. Pearce
    8. Tasi
    9. Friend
    10. JWH
    11. Guerra
    12. Cordner
    13. Anasta

    14. Masoe
    15. FPN
    16. Bosden
    17. Mitchell

No surprises there. We've been like that for a while. I'd also play Maubs in the centres. Leave him there until SKD is ready to come back, then shift him back to second row on the same side.

Leilua still injured, Arona has the edge on Bosden who looks like Cordner this time last year & Tagive was very classy with no mistakes tonight

I thought he would be right for R1?

Maubs was fantastic.. Mose made plenty of great charges and I was very pleased with what Tagive did. He looked very confident and assured which was the complete opposite of Carney who was a train wreck. Moga seemed to sustain a leg injury late when he made a strong hit up on the tackle before Morts try. I thought we played our attack too flat and he virtually got no clean ball. A bit early to consign him to NYC imho based on tonight.

How did he run? Has he got his old legs back?

I know I keep banging on about it (like Fred and his love for Smithy ) but Tagive has to be in the team to start the year. He is big, strong and super fast and gives our backline some much needed potency (especially combined with Moga).

                  Since it looks as though SKD will be out for round 1 I would go with a backline of;

                  Minichiello
                  Tagive
                  Moga
                  Aubusson
                  Perrett

In a fair world Morts and Pearcey should start in the halves, but sadly life isn't fair and no doubt the invisible one will swan back into the team.

As for the forwards, what a plethora of guys to choose from, at least by playing Aubs at centre it frees up another spot for the likes of Arona, Bosden, Guerra, Cordner etc in the back row.

No, he played thefull 80 and didn't seem to have any problems with it for the rest of the game and Smith has said that we had no injuries.

Moga actually came off with about 10 to go and Peni Tagive moved to centre with Adam Henry outside him. Looks like he sustained a high ankle sprain. Played on for a couple of minutes then was replaced. I was pleasantly surprised with Tagive's defence at centre tonight. He was there for the 5 sets in a row that the tigers had on our line in the last 10 and was outstanding. Adam Henry also saved at least 2 tries in that last 10 with brilliant up and in defence. Sure he's a bit slow for a winger but he scrambled to more loose balls than any player I've seen in a while tonight, the last effort to seal the game for us. All heart that kid imo.

Yeah mate. Vantage point was not as good as last weekend so my opinion may differ from a few of the other attendents I'd imagine.

You may have had a different vantage point but how do you know who was who? half the time didn't recognise the person by their number more by someone close by calling them by their name. Ended up getting confused by the number of players wearing the same number. ie; Mini had the 1 on his back but Alofa alofa started the game with the 1 and came off when he was replaced by Mini. Young Adam Henry did impress as did Bosden and quite a few others.
I guess it was more about the fact they all played for each other when they were on the park something that was missing for most of last season

I've seen a lot of the young guys in the lower grades over the past two years. At the point now where I can differentiate them by running styles or how they ball play. For instance, Alofa and Mini were pretty easy to distinguish between because whenever Alofa returns the ball back he lowers his head to duck under the arm or shoulder of the first defender. He was actually out there for the whole first half. From memory Mini ran on after 20 with the rest of them and was called straight back off before play restarted. I thought Alofa was excellent for his first run against senior players. Sure he didn't grab that first bomb but he was let down a bit by the edge defence in that first set. Never should have had an attacking kick in the first place. After that he was faultless and his communication at the back is so impressive. Showed great hands catching a Tasi offload that went to his toes late in the first half.
