The NRL wants touch footy and is catering to Mum's worried about their kids playing the sport

If you think it's touch footy I'd love to see anyone on this forum go on the field for 5 minutes and get TOUCHED a few times.... they would all be in hospital for weeks. I think it's great that FINALLY the game is going to protect the players from illegal contact with the head. It has never been part of the game as it was meant to be played, from 1908. And I don't think it was ever envisioned that the game would be played by behemoths weighing over 110 kgs, and hitting like cement trucks. I couldn't care less if every player who made contact with his opponents head was sent off... because that's the only way they will get the message to the coaches, that they have to change it.

You will never stop players getting hit in the head...it is impossible. The NRL will destroy the game as we know it trying to do this though

Nothing wrong with AFL at all though or Football, Netball (where's Ism22) etc etc - I don't get this dishing other codes/sports that V'landy's and co do/have and even Stuart mocking Netball.

You want kids playing any sport they want and not be forced to play one only which might turn them off sport if they don't like playing it and parents have pushed them into playing it or mocked for playing other sports.

It's like when I started playing t-ball then baseball - Kids would say oh that's a girls game and why aren't you playing Cricket etc etc - People make comments dishing sports they have never played and don't understand or have have never really watched,

Getting kids away from devices and active again is the focus

No issue however the opposite side of the coin is the crap taps then the dives. Our game is NOT soccer and we don't play it Hollywood!

Sports are fantastic for kids particularly team one's where they learn the value of working together for a common goal.
Massive issue in modern society with kids glued to devices.

Ben Cummins is at Winx odds to put one of ours in the bin, it's a travesty that this incompetent clown will surpass Bill Harrigan as the record holding referee for games officiated.

Another mid season rule change that will be policed for a couple of rounds, then back to 'normal'...all because of the referee/bunker incompetency. Common sense ain't that common.

It feels as though they've put a clueless business consultant in charge rather than somebody who actually knows about the game of footy.

Like I get that we don't want head knocks but:
- 6 Agains are already a joke and they make you tired. Sending players to the bin won't magically enable people to run back quicker on their tired legs.
- IMO most players don't intentionally go out there to clobber people in the head. They get tired, they mis-time stuff, people duck...etc and an arm hits somebody's head in the context of a contact sport. Might sound like a paradox to them but if you call more 6-agains, give people less interchanges and start sending people off more easily then you'll see more head knocks and more serious injuries. Oh and more bloody cricket scores.
- Footy players aren't robots! You'll never get perfect compliance with the rules and punishing people even harder won't stop people from making honest mistakes (or refs from making 'honest mistakes' that just happen go result in one team being royally screwed by gratuitous sin-bins).

Yes, rugby league is a collision sport and collisions will happen. Another knee-jerk reaction. V'LANDYS OUT!

PVL will not see out the season. Has achieved nothing. Started with the trots and fell into his next job. Smoke and mirrors combined with the incompetence of Peter Beattie created an opening, and he took it. Sleep walked his way to the top job. Appointed a puppet as CEO who has no authority and won’t threaten PVL. Out of his depth and is being found out. Tragic Round will be the turning point. Footy fans will realize a buffoon is at the helm and demand a change. PVL stick to the clean sport of horse racing.
