  • Walking out

For the first time in 45 years I walked out of a Roosters game early in the second half. Not because I was embarrassed by their performance ( as some other chookpenner suggested) but because I could not stand watching the players busting their arses ( and admittedly making errors ) but were not refereed the same
as the other team. It was just too much for my poor old heart to handle. The game’s administration was the biggest embarrassment last night. Instead of curing the real issue , which is the incompetence by the referees and the bunker ( evidenced in our game against parramatta ) the NRL decided to punish the players/ clubs and fans . I’m all for no headshots and no thug play, and no one endorses such actions, but the way it’s handled is an absolute embarrassment ( there’s that word again).
I’ve made a decision to not attend any more games this year as long as this crap is going on as I have not been enjoying the games, even after we win, and will continue supporting the team and renew my membership every year and buy the merchandise , and hopefully in a year or two the officiating becomes a little more professional and make the game more enjoyable once again.
    Rant over.

So Rads facing 4 wks and Angus 2 wks with an early plea for "dangerous contact".

lol every week we lose players to suspension for phantom dangerous contact and crusher tackle charges.

Between suspensions and injuries we can never field half a team.

Like yourself I'm prepared to sit out the rest of the season and re-assess. With the overwhelming and overbearing influence of refs and the match review committee Im just not enjoying the game right now.

It’s clear the officials are to busy looking for high shots and missing the standard things in the game like forward passes.

Not sure which direction the game is heading, someone needs to be done with the officiating at the end of this season, I’ll be clear it’s there the officials fault they are only doing what there told, it’s the administrators running the game.

We also can’t blame the officials for what happened with Rads he knew the new rules but still went for it.

That referee would have been out of his depth in park A grade, he had no control and missed everything but highshots by the roosters

NRL are doing the right thing enforcing the rules - players have to learn and make better choices and change their tackling techniques simple as that - Good to hear Freddy is 100% behind it as well - will give players more confidence and make it a better game with players knowing they won't have their face smashed.

Wtf did Angus do? Anyone? Rads 4 wks, Angus 2 wks...

**** while you're at it NRL just suspend everyone.

Phantom crushers, invisible "dangerous contact" every single game.

Half our team are out injured. And the other half will end up being suspended soon enough under the current regime.

And when that happens maybe then no one will watch your "product". Will you be happy then?

King Salvo might love it; but most won't.

In response to your last sentence can you point out to me where and how Radley breached the rules and made contact with the head? Also the ref never called it and said okay on and only the bunker’s interference 2-3 tackles later ( I think) that made the ref
                sin bin him.
How about the 2 meters forward pass inside our 20 that everyone, except the ref who was under 10 meters away and the touchies missed it, that eventually led to try from a repeat set?

NRL judiciary charges say it all, new rules have come
into force we need to adapt. If he didn’t breach the rules why is he missing 4 weeks ?

In relation to your last quote on the forward pass, like I said all the officials are to busy looking for high shots they are missing everything else.

i'm in favour of a crackdown on head high tackles but i'm not in favour of an incompetent implementation of a crackdown and clearly they haven't got it right.

not going to the games doesn't seem the answer - you're penalising the players through lack of support. it penalises the club more than the nrl.

The solution in not being on report / sin binned or suspended is not commit breaches of the rules - simple as that. Players should be well aware of what could happen by now - players and coaches have to fix this - got to teach juniors to tackle legally as well.

Probably why the crowd was only 13,000.
                          Methinks you are not alone.
Many people believe the refereeing of us is and has been for a very long time seeming biased, and that in 2002, 2013, 2018, 2019 our teams were good enough to overcome it.

Last night's game was incredibly frustrating to watch live. It was about 7:45 before we were back in the car in the horrendously inefficient car park. That's over two hours for a game that should be over in 80 + 10 for half time. Why? Because there were so many stoppages while the referee stood there, waiting for the bunker to tell him who to place on report, who to sin-bin and whether there was or was not a try scored. In other words, some bloke watching the telly back at the Redfern bunker was controlling the action while we all sat there in the cold wondering what crap was going to be dished up next. Not only that, but the time-wasting by players was excruciating. Every kick-off, every conversion attempt, every drop-out seemed to take an eternity. The 'product' was not at all enjoyable to watch. Will it settle into a rhythm eventually? I hope so. I won't be hurrying back to watch that crap.

                              2021 is a write off. I can’t remember a year this bad.

I’m just looking forward to seeing some of the young kids get a crack and develop their games, I want to sit back and enjoy our performances and care a little less about the results.

By 2022 hopefully all this sin bin crap has settled itself down into something more reasonable and we have something close to a full squad available for selection.
