we need the 2 pts this week.
williams never got the credit for the skill he showed in his grubber for wighton when they beat us in last year's semis. he feinted to kick to the corner on teddy's right, teddy moved that way, but williams grubbered just to the right of teddy, teddy stayed moving that way, but williams had put a wicked spin on it and it spun to teddy's other side, went over the try line and stopped, just waiting for a raider to put his hand on it.
but yeah, the club's looking like a basket case now
That is a big loss for Canberra and makes our job slightly easier. I think Williams is a very good player. Better than many halves in the NRL. I would say there is definitely more to this than meets the eye.
There's more to this than just homesickness. In the sort term he would make a great addition to our halves and would thrive in our system imo.
Raiders released him on the condition of returning home?
They were pretty close on NRL 360. I can't remember who it was but they said Bateman was inflaming the situation to try and get Williams to join him at Wigan. It will be interesting to see if Williams ends up there.

It was pre-determined that Wighton would be the hero. A little like Harry Grant when the Drizz played us. Sigh... I swear commentators can watch a totally different game from what the fans are seeing.
TBH Wighton has been ordinary for years (and a grub). One 'good' season where the Faders were able to do 5 man strips on ever tackle doesn't make him a hero in my books.
Something is not right at the Raiders.
Methinks the players have lost confidence in Ricky, and vice versa.
Bateman gone, Williams gone, Tapine's wife complaining about the coach, Papali rested (earlier) and not in the team.
Yes, they are looking like a basket case, and its imperative that our side puts them to the sword this week.
The 2 competition points are vital, as we are likely to drop points with some really tough games scheduled after round 13
Looks like Ricky has lost the plot, and the dressing room, he is old school, and expects his players to die for a win. Expects them to love and respect him and follow his instructions at all costs. He hasn't won anything since a premiership was handed to him in his first year, and desperatley wants to go down as a great coach, which he will never be. When he played he was ruthless, win at all costs, I don't think he can relate to his players, puts them under too much pressure, takes any enjoyment out of playing the game. Wins come when a group of players unite as a team, and play for each other, I just don't think he can find the right balance.
Sticky wears teams down, he's just so intense. He should be on the Jack Gibson routine of moving on every 3 or 4 years
How many teams would take on Ricky?
Look what he did with the Sharks and Eels. Sure he brought the Raiders to a GF but you would think there are better options out there who have won GFs eg. Green, Flanagan, Bennett
