  • Radley makes a good point

“Tackling low or stuff that people have been saying is the answer, just isn’t the answer. I can’t be pre-meditating tackling low and getting myself knocked out and copping elbows and hips."

    Hard to argue with that.

Continue on with his current tackling style and he will be spending more time suspended than playing though.

His point is if you make him tackle around the elbow/hip/knee, when for a given tackle those are the most dangerous places to put his head, then that's not the way to do it if your goal is to reduce concussions.

Lol hard to argue with that. JWH and Sitili will be sitting on the sidelines after this weekend also.

They are happy to literally tear at the fabric of the game to get their agenda through. This share the trophy mentality is more damaging to the game than a team winning 50 percent of its gf appearances in 8 out of 20 years.

The rules are the rules you either follow them and adjust or face time on the sideline simple as that- he admitted he missed the mark then comes out after the judiciary saying he's not going to change.

Surely there was someone from the club with him that would usher him away from the press though as those kind of statements would not go down well at NRL HQ or at Chooks HQ either.

Continue on with a lower tackling style and he could be out of the game altogether like Jake and possibly Cords.

All this talk about hitting lower... what about that big hit he put on around the ribs I’m the 2nd half? Refs still found a way to put him on report for it.. and I don’t buy that they had an issue with the second effort till they realised there was nothing wrong with the first hit.

Radley could be the new 'Axe' if he aimed slightly lower. With his timing and power, he would cut players down, and they would stay down holding their head in a daze.

The vast majority of concussions are to defenders. The irony is that by taking these steps to protect ball carriers they will increase.

Players today are bigger stronger and faster than yesteryear its impossible to tackle low all the time and there will always be 2 or 3 in a tackle today to stop the progress.
Vlandys has put his rules in place with out thinking it out
the whole 6 again thing is a relentless joke on the game.
He needs to go urgently..and replaced with someone that has real foresight not gun ho.
I have always said the game was at its best late eighties early nineties..look there and see what went right.
If this keeps up they will revert to 5m rule soon

Totally agree - it’s all optics - they want to be looking like they are doing all they can to limit concussions. They would be very scared about concussions that result from illegal play and then the NRL not doing anything to stop these - thereby being responsible. So they don’t really care about concussion as much as them being accused of allowing illegal play to result in concussion. That’s their main game.

Yeah , Radley stating the obvious.
the ball carrier can virtually do what ever they like , fore arms , shoulders etc all used, by all players. If we start binning the ball carriers , there will be no one left.
