Yes it seems he was carrying an injury to his back but it seems will be ready for round 1

Lets just hope the back injury is not a loss of spine. He must have a big year for us to do ok if he is staying in the 6 jersey.

To conclusively answer the above question, i will quote Banasta's response he gave to Matt Cleary in January's
RLW 2012 Season Preview.

Cleary: So, is he happy at the Chooks & his 1 yr deal?

BA: "Yeah, it's gonna be tough, though. I've signed for 2012 with the Chooks but i definitely feel like i've got 2 more years in me,
this year & another one. Things might get a bit tricky there."

BA: "Well, yeah(laughs). But i'm not going to worry about it. I'm going to talk to Smithy & see how we go. But either way i want
to play as well as i can. I mean, if at any stage i feel like i'm not performing the best that i can & not benefiting the team, i'll be
