I have a theory that you need to have an indigenous player in your side to win the comp.. think you have to go back to Melb 99 to find a grand final side without a first Australian.

nb - We don’t have one now that Jake has retired
    ..it’ll be interesting to see

Outstanding team lots could be switched in and out and still be a great team - Artie Beetson still remains my childhood hero. An older mate of mine talked to me a lot about Bruce "Larpa" Stewart and what a good player he was.

If you can wade through the 60's commentary on an aboriginal player, there are a nice couple of snippets of him in play.

Probably why Latrell left, felt like the odd man out, having indigenous round and not having a representative in the team must be quite rare these days.

Does Jake identify as Aboriginal? I thought I read he might have Indigenous ancestry, but has no recent connection with any community.

A noosa-based website (run by Noose High School) says he's indigenous. However, he played for the World All Stars against the Indigenous All Stars so go figure.

Presumably his old high school would know? (Maybe).

Andrew Walker and Matt Sing are up there with my all time favorite players not just Roosters

I know John Ferguson would be the first winger picked.

Jamie Soward, who remembers when Sticky selected him at fullback back in ‘06.

I like that La Perouse was Glen, Mark and Gary Ella’s uncle.

So who did we have in 2013? If Jake was indigenous he would be in the list in the OP.

My theory has been proved incorrect.

Maybe a part of the stolen generation? Very sorry if so
