  • Ryan James' sin-bin

Admittedly I didn't watch the game live as my wife and I were boozing it up at Dead Ringer. However, I've been watching the replays and James' dog shot was pretty nasty.

Got me thinking. It's an obvious sin-bin, but so is an accidental high shot. Is it just me, or do the new rules cheapen the severity of really nasty dog shots?

It concerns me a little that an accidental high shot with no malice is now treated the same as pinning a guy down while you knee him in the back (a few weeks after similar contact led to one of our players being put out for 2-3 months with broken ribs and a punctured lung... that's now had further complications).

Maybe just me but what is a send-off offence if jumping on a guy's back while he's flat on his face, grabbing his shoulder and then giving him 2-3 intentional knees to the spine is just a casual sin-bin offence (much the same as a mis-timed tackle that somebody ducks into for the free penalty would be treated).

Radley got 5 weeks for jack shyte under the new rules. I doubt James will get 5 weeks because his dog shot was (apparently) less serious...

It's just another example of how the NRL has gotten it all wrong.
From day 1 their focus should have been on getting rid of deliberate dog acts such as the Ryan James knee and Reece Walsh forearm to the head.
These are the sorts of things that they can actually stamp out of the game through punishments unlike accidental high tackles.
Yet James only gets 10 for purposely dropping his knees on someones head and Walsh escapes with only 1 week suspension and wasn't even penalised, put on report or binned.

Jared did tell the ref it was nothing especially considering that Jared dragged him down but with all BS about making zero contact, even if it’s just a love tap, he had to go.

That was rather sporting of Jared. I wonder if any other player would do the same for him?

The Canberra Milkers would have been rolling around like a Brazilian soccer star if the roles were reversed...Mind you, Jared did cause that by dragging Ryan down so I believe Jared didn’t want to act like some innocent victim.

Soon after that incident, Jared gave Horsburgh a crusher tackle. It looked like it hurt Horburgh but he immediately got to his feet seemingly returning the favour.

Looked like an accident to me, JWH had hold of James and pulled him off balance..... nothing in it.

Nice. Missed that incident so will head back to Kayo to see if JWH has anything to worry about.

jwh pulls him down and his knees hit jared, no problem so far, but then he goes in with the knee again. if you watch the replay it looks like they stop it and rewind it but they don't and it's the second motion that was dumb

I thought the same thing, the replays very sketchy i don't think there was an intent to knee Jared

That's why I started my petition. The sudden rule change has not been implemented properly nor refereed fairly. We were singled out against the Broncos.

I liked that from Jared, it was just a couple of old bulls going at it and he dragged him down which led to James' frustration.
