Yet again I forgot how enjoyable a game of footy can be when your team wins. Remarkable.

We had tried hard over the last 3 games, not got reward for the effort. We came up against a side on a roll and we tried again and got the reward.

I had fun down the front, converting those youngsters to Roosterism but I did watch the game more closely. We probably were not making the most of our chances. We could've easily scored a few more tries and it was so frustrating.

But a win is a win

Perrett yet again our best. Myles was so gutsy to back up.
I thought Koups went OK, service out of dummy half was OK for someone who doesn't play there. Defence was very solid.

Sa, I thought he was 5/8 and had a very quiet game

Tom Symonds was awesome defensively. He should be our 5/8, as he was in the 20's

Just on FPN, he was below par this week, speaking to him, there was a fatuige problem for him, he should be back to normal for next week.

How good was lopini this week !!! i mean man !! he was getting back to his great form from last season !!!

Pearce did well leading the side as the only real ball playing option, SKD and Perrett made some great incisive runs all night.

Sandor Earl made a good debut, got involved, nothing outstanding, but definatly held his own.

Friend is getting better, he picked some good dummy half runs tonight.

There was still a bit of panic in the team, especially early on near the sharks line on attack, but that settled when the forwards really got a great roll on.

I noticed there were numerous occasions during the game that the Sharks had to kick on the 5th inside their own 20mtr line !! some great defence from the roosters, a commited effort, still some work to do, but i will take a win and the 2 points ANYDAY of the week !!!

Fitzy played fantastically, Pearce as well but mainly in defence, still a few discipline problems with him and just needs to work out his kicks.

In my mind, Sa offered almost nothing out of 5/8 other than a hit up every so often, i think we need someone with a good passing game to get it wide to our outside backs. I dont know much about Symonds or Jones as 5/8s but i definately think its worth a look. Whichever of the rangas plays 5/8 next week, the other should be at centre with maubs. Sa off the bench
I support two NRL teams, the Roosters and whoevers playing Souths

5 forwards making more than 100 metres in the same match...WOW..

Myles made 1 error, and the others made none..

Can you believe we had a pack that made metres and not mistakes...??

Great stats! On top of that, Perret (264 metres), SKD (160 metres) and Earl (109 metres). Pearce made 564 kicking metres, along with 22 tackles. Aubusson was also busy outwide in defense, making 22 tackles. No secret that Cronulla tried to target our right hand defense, but Pearce and Maubs were up to the challenge

Making metres was no issue for us on Saturday night. But we still looked confused and lacked that killer blow when we were attacking in the Sharks 20

It was great to see Pearce actually playing for repeat sets with grubbers though. Cumulative pressure is the best way to crack a defence, we can't bomb to SKD and Earl every 5th tackle! Grubber through the line force them to try and get out of their ingoal. If they can't, we get the ball back. If they can, we smash them for 5 tackles.

Best way to play the game is in their half!

I agree. Although Pearce's short kicking game was his weak point on Saturday. Our defense made up for it though. I think Sa has a good short kicking game. He forced a goal line dropout with a very neat grubber into the in goal. Maybe we should throw him the ball more often in the oppositions 20 on tackle 5

Pearce's short kicking isn't poor, it is just that he chooses the aerial route far more often. Aerial route usually gives more of a chance to score, but less of a chance to gain a possibly more valuable repeat set. He needs work on his grubbers, but I will give credit where it is due, at least he is trying it for a change, it shows he is willing to curb his natural instincts to play a more controlling game.

I never said it was 'poor'. It was the weak point in his kicking game on Saturday though. I wasn't too impressed with his bombs either. They lacked height and didn't really give us the chance to get under them. They were more like chips rather than huge bombs. If you are going to bomb, bomb hard. But the rest of his kicking game was A+. I especially like his options when we had possession in the early parts of the Sharks half of the field. He was obviously instructed to drill the corners, kick chase hard and try to pin Cronulla in their own half. It certainly worked
