Also good to see Sandon Smith (5/8/half and very Goal Kicker) Jordan Swan (Centre) and Nick Fenton ( Prop) from the SG ball side have strong games in Jersey Flegg in the Chooks 52-10 win vs Manly - Silktail /Roosters signing Vuate Karawalevu bagged a double.
And in the Harvey Norman Women's Premiership the Central Coast Roosters remain unbeaten Defeating the previously unbeaten Mounties (Canterbuty) 22-20 after being down 14-0 at half time - 2 Chooks sin binned in the second half (50th and 56th minute) and 1 Mounties player(56th minute).
East Campbelltown Eagles went down 22-20 in another close loss vs Ryde Eastwood Hawks in the MOTD in the Sydney Shield at Tint Me Up International Sports Stadium ( 5 losses by 6 or less) - 3 games on the day- Under 18's / Open age and Sydney Shield.
Big day for a reunion of the 1st and Reserve grades side that won their respective Group 6 comps back in 2012 - The First Grade side also being awarded the prestigious Clayton/s Cup for the Country team with the best record that season - Campbelltown Eagles as they were known as then were undefeated minor premiers and premiers. - Thankfully they changed the name back to East Campbelltown though
Group 6 were worried about the Eagles dominating the comp so they introduced a points based player ranking to "even up the comp" - teams could only have a squad of players up to the allocated points.
The majority of the Eagles players came through the Juniors system and had played together for quite a while.
Imagine if they had a player points system in the NRL - your too strong and dominant xyx teams so you have lose some of your Main NRL players so the weaker teams can sign them and improve.
Even the Referees voted them out !!!!
Group 6 committee members and referees and representatives from each Group 6 club voted in "vast majority", in a secret ballot in which 38 votes were cast, to revoke the Eagles' affiliation with Group 6.
NSWRL although siding with the the Eagles wouldn't overide the NSW CRL- Eagles have won the Sydney Shield comp 3 times - 2014/16/18 with that same side.
I managed to catch the game on WatchNRL, Fifita played quite well which is encouraging since he hasn’t quite been the same after he was brought back in to first grade after being dropped. Second game in a row I’ve seen glimpses of talent Whyte, unfortunately he didn’t get much service.
