He just iced a game for us Turk after we were down and out. What were your expectations of the 18 year old??

I didn't realise Russell Crowe posted on the chookpen

Often the criticism of some of our players on this site isn't just unfair, its pathetic.

He’s an 18 yo playing his 8-9th game of first grade and did what took Mitchell Pearce 7-8 years to do, kick a FG to win a game in the last minute.

He is a teenager he will physically fill out over the next couple of years, a natural footballer who understands the need for hard work at training to realise his potential.

I wish I could hit the like button more than once on your post.

Does anyone remember 2007? We won so many games in golden point that year. I'm surprised I survived my 40th birthday that year. That was a draw that weekend too with New Zealand. I never did see that game.

Apparently he lost a lot of weight during lockdown and that's why he looks a bit on the fragile side. Luckily he has a great family support system who understand the game and what is required to keep him fit and healthy.

As with RWB, if I could have given this post more than the one like, I would have. Well said. I couldn't believe that he actually kicked that FG so accustomed am I to Roosters sides botching such attempts. Good on you Sam, you avoided the Roosters being on the end of a travesty if they'd lost that game.

Apparently that was the first time he's ever had a shot at field goal in a game, even all through his juniors

Wow..even more reason to celebrate this thread then, despite the title.

                            Me too.

I was even more amazed and delighted when we actually safely fielded the ensuing short kickoff!! We must miss an even higher percentage of those than FGs.

Two things that stood out in the end of that game. Sam shanked that goal, which could have led to him going into his shell. But he hit that field goal like he had ice in his veins. There was a celebration for about ten seconds then he took on the death stare as they all knew there would be a short kickoff.
