Ran that unforgiving unders line with commitment his whole career. Physically & mentally I hope he is ok long term. Like others have said he is a True Rooster....irreplaceable

Damn, was hoping he’d play out the year and then retire. He deserves a proper send off but not to be. Thanks for the memories…..

Such a tough and uncompromising Rooster. All heart and effort. A cleanskin on the field and off it. I have to assume the club will give him a coaching role - people like Boyd are the foundations of good culture and are very rare. Legend!

This is terrible, tragic was looking forward to seeing him play again at least to finish off the season my god, I don’t even want to believe it, his retirement is a massive massive loss.

Boyd thank you, a warrior, leader and role model everyone playing footy should aspire to be like, lead with your actions you bled for this footy club and the fans adore you for it, I’m lost for words truly.

Roosters Legend and a champion person.

Thank you to a true Roosters legend.

Carve an extra head on our Mount Rushmore. Messenger, Brown, Beetson, Fittler and now Cordner.
Loved by few, hated by many, respected by all.

Three premierships, countless tests and 2 origin series. Hard to beat that.

Time to buy the Old Bar pub.

                      Heartbreaking.

Such an ornament to our game and to our club. I hope stays involved with the Roosters.

A tremendous player, a fabulous person. One of the very best.

Best of luck for the future, Boyd.

Achieved everything in the game. Sad news but unsurprising. Made the right decision for him and his family.

Good on ya boydo… Achieved it all mate time to look after yourself for your long term health. 100% he will be involved with the club, like some have mentioned our coaching staff is sorted for a long time with all these unfortunate retirements. On the plus side we will have a huge chunk of money sitting there now ready for us to go after someone, but who?

Not much more to say that hasn’t been said here. The messages left here are beautiful lads and makes me proud to be part of the Roosters family. Love ya Boydo!

Watching that press conference was tough.. I actually became a little emotional myself there seeing him tear up while talking about robbo. You can clearly see how much this club and our team mean to him and how much passion he has for the game, I wish him nothing but the best with his health in the future and a long great coaching career in the future who knows maybe he can become a great assistant under robbo???
