  • A year to remember

This will be a season to remember - for all the wrong reasons.

It will be a season we will all speak of as long as we are alive.

One of the years of disaster.

    1966

    1983

    1984

    2009

    Arguably 2016

Three forced retirements, including our two captains who were (along with JWH) the heart and soul of the team.

Another two ACL’s, including arguably the best 5/8 in the game.. Long term injury for Verrills. Ridiculous suspension for Radley. Hutch in hospital.

Penrith are moaning about having players out for one week. We have them five origin players out EVERY week!

It has been an incredible effort by Robbo and everyone to have us where we are in the table. If the ‘crackdown” doesn’t cost us the Brisbane game we are amazingly third.

I don’t care what anyone says. No other club could cope with it. Not even Melboune.

My prediction for where we end up. Probably fifth or sixth (we have a horror draw) and the second or even third week of finals. If by some miracle Penrith or Melbourne lose round one and we are on the other side we could even make the big dance.

My other prediction for the season? We will be proud of them no matter what happens. The way they have dealt with this adversity. Robbo has never raised it as an excuse. In fact, Robbo doesn’t do excuses at all. Ever.

My prediction for next season? With some injury luck…..we win the thing. I am convinced of it.

My kids asked me the other day which of my years as a supporter has been the best. Of course I told them the premiership years but I also said this year has also been a great year. There is little expectation of us winning the competition but the resilience and spirit shown by the side, as well as the experience the younger guys are getting earlier than expected will be invaluable in the future.

Can’t wait for Penrith on Friday night.

    Go Roosters!

I'm not saying the Roosters could win the grand final...but shit, they could win the grand final this year. Penrith are the Ticktok Twat Wrangler, 'Marilyn' Kikau and maybe 'Fergo' Yeo if he puts in and a couple of lucky recipients. If Ticktok's chin implodes, they are finished and done.

After Saturday, I believe anything is possible.

Is a "year to remember for all the wrong reasons" actually a "year to forget?"

Joking aside, I'm glad I follow a club with such great character, despite what all the jealous naysayers think.

Revisit after the next two games. We haven’t beaten a top side for ages.

If we don't get treated like a wastrel at the Wall by the Ref's then we have an even money chance against every team.

Penrith or Melbourne would be a massive scalp.

We can beat both and I’m supremely confident we will do Melbourne.

3 all time greats forced to retire mid season within weeks of each other. All the other injuries. And halfway through the season, the side is still only 4 points behind the competition leaders. Never been prouder to be a Roosters fan.
