I thought he did some good stuff, but their attack was relentless. We did well to prevent them from putting 40+ on us and Iku/Teddy had some good reads to prevent certain tries being scored.
Obviously not the result I wanted, and there's no way of sugar-coating it. But... not gonna turn on Iku. Instead, I'm gonna sink my jaws into my blueberry muffin and sip on my flat white. We did the best we could and still lost. B2B Pemriff & Drizz was always gonna be tough.
He does some great stuff and is a great finisher. Always tries his hardest. Does many tough carries from our end. BUT his inability to catch an occasional bomb while under pressure is too costly and makes him too much of a target.
If we have to go to war with the administration then so be it, if it takes us losing match after match and the end results in Easts getting a fair shake that’s worth it, because I’m tired of watching us get officiated way more harshly then every other team every week it’s the same bias narrative, a player in the bin with these 'new rules' totally destroys a great game we were up 12-6 and Penrith may well have scored with 13 on 13, but that sin bin ruined contest we defended for the next 25 minutes and even when SST returned we were physically cooked, the boys never gave up but imagine what goes through the heads of players when we get smashed from pillar to post by these ****en officials.
Taking nothing away from Penrith they are a very good footy team but until that sin bin they were in a contest when SST went to the bin it was game over, took away any chance we had of an unlikely victory.
Robbo what is with the basic fundamental errors with zero pressure on us Manu, Iku, Lam? I get last night was wet but this is a weekly occurrence, catching a ball, passing, kicking for touch, Iku has been great in finishing plays off and his runs out of our end are great, but again basics catching the ball, passing SKD 2.0 geez BMoz will be missed, under the high ball he’s totally useless and that’s a staple trait for an aspiring winger, Lam? Boy oh boy I had high hopes for this kid his reads in defence are woeful his kicking game is non existent long or short, his running game which I thought was his strength is total dogshit no tackle breaks nothing, Angus looks like he’s been on the turps lately slow motion even getting off a tackled player takes forever.
SST? I don’t know what’s going on with the big fella he carried us last year, this year it seems as though he’s playing his first year of FG no confidence, dropped balls at least two a game.
Teddy is hurt **** Origin mate sit down rest, tried his heart out but this running in circles shit man has to stop.
JWH- Wow single handedly destroyed the Penrith pack in the first 15 minutes that look on his face when he was subbed off blood all over the jersey but that look of utter defeat not from lack of trying but from being taken out of the contest all heart and soul love ya big fella your a monster.
Baker- Was he subbed off early or something? Was going great then went stone cold quiet.
Sammy V- came on and practiced tackling couldn’t do anything else.
Robbo get their minds on the job and if they aren’t switched on send them to norths we cannot afford dumbshit errors with no pressure on us seriously.

The engineered blow out score to enable a minor premiership, a possible premiership and government funding for a new stadium. That’s the riff story whilst our coach calls out the bias agenda.
Here’s a thought - why don’t we use cords or Keary, B Moz as our run on field trainers?? Would we be allowed to do that? Because if we had someone like Keary running on with water and talking to the boys it could be very beneficial
Penrith were very good, seemed like they had 20 players on the field, very committed to every play, and Cleary was brilliant. We were out played and out enthused by a very good team. There were some turning points, a couple of bad calls in their favour, but overall they were far too good and would have beaten any team by the same margin. The best we can hope for is some improvement when we get Radley ,Walker and Sitili back. Teddy needs a break, too brave for his own good. I don't even know if we would have held Penrith if we were full strength last night, they were on fire, moving quickly and in packs, the amount of possession they had from the time TKO was sent was incredible, we had no ball for about 15 minutes, they scored 20 points, but they kept it up all night. Hard to take, but if we can't win it I hope they do.
Robbo was clearly quite frustrated and gave a frank assessment of how confused/frustrated he was. However, he didn't have a sookie lah-lah and claim the refs were biased against him.
Get farked whoever wrote that! I'd watch teh pronz if I wanted to see ludicrously fake climaxes.

Agreed.
IMO that's why all the high tackle BS frustrates me! Penrith were legitimately a good team. I enjoyed watching the way they shifted the ball around so quickly and then came up with a barrage of highly technical, well executed last tackle options. They were absolutely on the money last night. I don't like them, but they were... and Ivan Cleary was a gentleman about it during his presser (which I listened to because he provided humble, honest analysis of the game).
What I don't like is that a stupid send-off soured the result. I don't think we woulda won if SST stayed on the field (Pemriff were close and may well have scored then & there, with the momentum shifting purely as a result of their attack... which was spot on). Also, I don't think it was the 'wrong call' under Bland-arse's regime. It's exactly what he WANTS to see... the Bunker sending people off for ANY high contact. ANYTHING high!!! However, it was indicative of everything that I hate about the farking rule changes. Also... it spoiled the flow of the game. We own the result and shoulda done better to contain Penrith while SST was off but Christ... it's annoying seeing our game go down this path.
Won't get specific about my day job but I feel for the refs in all of this. Having been in a position where you make a call that suits the circumstances (and everybody agrees is an intelligent solution) before a dictator comes down on top of you saying 'ZERO TOLERANCE!!! SAY NO!!! SLAM THEM!!! TELL THEM THEY ARE DREAMING AND TREAT THEM WITH ABSOLUTE CONTEMPT THIS TIME YOU SOFTIE!!!' ain't a lot of fun. For once I don't blame Klein. He even tried giving us a sympathy penalty later on, but the Riff were ruthless and challenged it (correctly and within their right). I felt that he was frustrated with the binning being taken outta his hands though (and him having to be puppeted through the motions of saying 'nope... no mitigating circumstances... OFF!!! Bunker says so!!!' after he'd just made the call that there were mitigating circumstance).

matty king's probably pretty good. don't know about using blokes recovering from knee surgery but using cords could work

Agreed. Why would we do that?
That said, I note that Keary was throwing balls around during the captain's run. IMO they are all around the club and they are being used where possible.
We'll get our revenge on Penrith, souffs and Melbourne next year when we have our full strength team back. ATM it feels like we are getting beat up by the school bully but we have both our arms tied behind our back. I know that a full strength Roosters would be able to not only beat these teams but also give them a touch up. Injury has defeated us this year and we have handled it better than any other club. We'll make the 8 and we will win our first finals match, anything we win after that is a bonus.
I never expected the Chooks to win last night & I did think it would be lopsided to Penrith because we had 8 players out & they only had 1 out.
Penrith are a top team who I think will win the comp at full strength.
The Chooks cannot match the 4 teams above them & probably Manly as well with this terrible injury toll but they are blooding plenty of youngsters that hopefully can make the club alot stronger in 2022.
The SST sin binning which should not of been a sin binning in my view & I try to be even on things changed the game because you cannot play against Penrith with 12 men.
Anyway Im moving on & look forward to the Storm game which is gonna be another very very very hard game to win.
