  • The Mole: Sydney Roosters mourning death of 1974 premiership player Harry Cameron

Another member of the great Eastern Suburbs team of the mid-1970s has died.

Harry Cameron, a hard-running centre from Queensland, passed away from dementia on Sunday. He was 73.

Spotted by the Roosters playing in the NSW country town of Narrabri, Cameron joined the Roosters in 1971.

Twelve months later he was playing in the grand final for Easts against Manly alongside glamour players Arthur Beetson, John Brass, Ron Coote and Kevin Junee.

Easts lost that day but Cameron was on the bench in the great Jack Gibson team two years later that beat Canterbury for the title.

A no-frills centre who rarely grabbed the headlines, he was a fine player and represented Queensland five times.

In the past 18 months, the Roosters have now lost three members of that legendary team of the mid-1970s - Mark Harris, ‘Bunny’ Reilly and now Cameron.
