See which ten Broncos players become available.
EDIT: From the Broncos carcus I think Corey Oates would be a good buy if the Broncos pay half his salary. Kevvie doesn't want him. Good replacement for Bmoz. Try scorer, good under the high ball and good defender. Run at me.

The 350k if it was approved for Boyd's rep game injury cap relief would only become available once the minimum 12 games was reached. I would assume the 350k would have to be used in this years cap and not be able to be carried forward to next year or subsequent years as that relief is for a specific purpose not part of the Cap.
I did read an article that the Chooks were looking at having Boyd's full 2021 salary exempt from the cap due to the retirement (if approved) but his injury was in SOO game 1 which was on the 4th November 2020.
The salary cap operates from 1 November to 31 October for each season - so Boyd's injury was in this years/seasons cap year so they would not be able to have it exempted from the cap only his 2022 and 2023 salary.
The reason being is a team could underspend by say 400k for 4 years straight and then have a 1.6million dollar advantage in the 5th year.
So there-fore if you have any cap space left you would be extending someone’s contract etc with it forward loaded.

Surely this talk about Toops being not wanted is bullshit. Next year he becomes a 10 year Rooster, barring injury he will play 200 games this year....& he is only 14 behind SKD for the most number of tries in Roosters history. Add 3 premierships, NSW & Australian Rep & most importantly his last 4 years have been phenomenal - he deserves a 2 year contract minimum & recognition as being one of the greatest wingers to ever wear the red white & blue

I assume this is nonsense from a nobody - haven’t heard anywhere else? Has anyone else seen/heard this?

Souffs trick was that they got GI and S-Burgess off their books by 'medically retiring' them ($1m each) so they could sign a heap of players in those years. They then hired them on the same wage to do random, non-specific, auxiliary roles (which you've gotta think musta been part of their handshake agreement for both to head to a GP and be like 'can you sign this cert saying I've sustained chronic injuries throughout my career and in your opinion playing a professional contact sport won't help them long-term?' [same can be said about any fukking NRL player]).
Boyd's salary will work like that... we'll wipe what, ~$800k a year off our books? However, Friend and B-Moz were year-by-year so we won't clear any existing commitments. Meh. I'd say our accountants woulda factored that in though (and we might get some sorta exemption for 2022 since there were 3 players who had to retire).
That's my figuring at least :P
