Was just reading the daily telegraph when I saw the 'nrl rich list' come up. Seems alot of our boys are on big money contracts:

    SST 655k
    JWH 700k
    Angus 720k
    Manu 720k
    Keary 850k
    Teddy 1.1

I wouldn’t renew SST,Angus or Manu if they wanted the same money to stay, if Manu was playing fullback, then that money would probably be justified.

Take that list with a grain of salt, I wouldn't think manu would be or should be on that much. Angus seems a touch high too

So those 6 players take up about 50% of our cap.

The funny part is most opposition supporters would believe it.

I didn't think we had a salary cap.

Anyway most the top 8 teams would have 4-6 players taking up half the cap

Jarred, Keary and Teddy are worth it.

SST was worth it last season but this year he’s half the player he was. No wonder we will be moving him.

For Manu who misses as many tackles as he makes he’s robbing us blind.

I think Angus has been far less effective this season to the back end of last season when I thought he was the best back rower in the game.

Not sure how Trent could work it but would love to see Gus play in the middle more, like he did in Origin and even for us for a short period

I don't know about anybody else, but it makes me feel a little bit sick to the stomach hearing about Liu going to the titans, Toops to the groncos, and SST to who knows where, and this on top of the three retirements.

Who hasn't been though 13 - team is going like a busted and nobody is going better than previous years as we are not getting good ball in good field position.

Angus was our best last week and almost every week lately I think. Seems to be him and JWH and maybe Toops - even Teddy has been ineffective because he being asked to do too much. He needs to bob up and catch them out not get the ball 3 times every set.

would be sad but so long as you don't become the lone titan we'll be alright

Is this confirmed? Toops particularly is part of the fabric of the club - with all the retirements how could we not be able to keep him?

If that's correct then they have 4,3 mill for the other 24 players @ 179k or so per player- so quite a few on the minimum - 77 k and others not listed would be getting more than the 179k one assumes - i.e Butcher/Toops/Radley/Collins/Sitilli/Suallii/Walker/Lam/Verrills for an example

If your spending 4.8 on 6 players that leaves 4.3 or so for the other 24 players - the cap is 9.1 mill for 2022. So i kind of believe reports that the Chooks won't have much wriggle room in the cap even with the retirements to add quality to the squad.

Have to go with what they have and fast track development of the fringe players and other earmarked youngsters to be NRL Standard players
