  • Fletcher Baker in Covid Isolation

Yep we just can't take a trick at the moment...

The NRL has been thrown another COVID curve ball with Roosters forward Fletcher Baker forced into isolation after being deemed a close contact of a positive case.

Baker, who played off the bench in his side’s 46-0 loss to the Storm at Newcastle last Thursday night, is the latest NRL player to be placed in quarantine after he went to a supermarket which was later listed as a COVID-19 exposure site.

NRL players are allowed to leave home under level four COVID protocols to shop for essential household goods, meaning Baker didn’t contravene any of the biosecurity rules.

The NRL has avoided a potential disaster because the Roosters didn’t train over the weekend and Baker hasn’t come into contact with any of his teammates. His initial test has since returned negative, but the club still cancelled training on Monday as a precaution.

The Roosters are due to play the Bulldogs at Bankwest Stadium on Saturday night.

Five Bulldogs players have spent 14 days in isolation after breaching an NRL directive by attending a Bondi pub, which was later listed as a COVID-19 exposure site, while Warriors players Euan Aitken and Josh Curran were on the same flight as a positive case.

    All subsequently returned negative tests.

It comes as the Blues consider moving their State of Origin camp from Magenta Shores on the Central Coast to the far north coast of NSW as the NRL frantically works with the Queensland and Victorian governments to secure exemptions for the movement of NSW and Queensland players across borders.

Thankfully he didn’t break any rules. Now that he’s isolating, we’re looking a bit thin for forwards, especially if Nat Butcher isn’t back.

As much as butcher isn't a fan favourite, i believe he has been sorely missed. As others of course.

Whyte, Tapuha, E. Butcher, Keighran, Suaalii, Ikuvalu, Hutch, Lam etc will just have to wear headgear, shoulder pads, take some vit B, and pick up the baton.
Big chance for them to shine.

He's back this week. Unless he gets on the drink again.

Well aren’t we lucky we are playing The Bulldogs. Even Lam will be a standout in this game.

When you consider the quality of the bench the last few weeks I’d agree.

Probably wouldn’t have played anyway but Brad Abbey also in isolation due to visiting a hotspot - just if you want to add to our impressive list of unavailable players

Roosters training was cancelled today and can continue tomorrow assuming Abbey’s test comes back negative

There was a Covid positive case in Abbey's apartment block so like Baker he will undergo mandatory 14 days isolation as well.
