Btw, I don’t really have a problem with it. I just don’t see age being the excuse.
Sure it does, all teenagers do stupid shit.

Your profession doesn't magically change that.

I don't really have a problem with the play. Its a professional sport and Sam did what he thought was necessary to ice the game..

Having said that its never a great look and was probably made to look a lot worse coming at the end of another very uninspiring performance from all but a handful of players.

        Boo hoo.
What would you have rather seen? Half the team lie dead on their backs and feign cramps?
Kicking over the sideline used to be the play in that position but the new rule changes with no scrums rules that out.
Walker iced the game. He didn't showboat, show off or taunt the dogs. He was all business and took the game into his own hands to seal the win.

Taunt. That is the word that escaped my mind damn it. Friend was taunting Smith at the end of the 2018 Grand Final. Blatant disrespect and nobody here was outraged.

And correct on all points. No feigning injury, no option to kick for a scrum.

But he didn’t answer the question of whether it was “roosters football” or not, he deflected it back to walker, he wasn’t going to put himself in the firing line on if it was a good look or not.

would Robbo have condemned it if it happened against us? I hope he wouldn’t.

I reckon that Walker would have to be second most unpopular player in the game now after that play. Only Cody Walker beats him.

For those posters who think it was okay then I would love to see your posts if Cody Walker, Jerome Luai, Latrell or Jordon Rapana did it against the Chooks.
                  It was a soft look.
It doesn’t matter what posters say in support of Walker and what they might say if it was a player from the opposition, like your BFF Cody. Do you think the burrow are supporting Sam W for what he did? Not on your life! Likewise if it was Cody doing it then there would be burrow fans supporting Cody Wank for what he did. Fans are allowed a certain level of bias in favour of their club and calling it out doesn’t help them to have to feel 100 % objective ALL of the time. It would never happen… and maybe it doesn’t help you either because it would be a lifetime effort trying to stop fans from being parochial about their team. I hope you go and tell the burrow fans not to be bias towards their team as well!

With that said, I agree it was a soft look.

tbh if a player from another team did it i wouldn't be fussed, but i would be disappointed that all of my team didn't run after walker while the game was still live

I can see why people would criticise it as a negative play. IMO in an ideal world you will always be coached to stand up right away and run forward rather than farking around and intentionally trying to waste time.

That said, the Bulldogs gave up. If it were the Drizz... I suspect the Fox woulda hunted him down and used his size/strength advantage to strip the ball. It was a valid game management strategy and was not without risks.
That's not right , he did not praise it .He simply deflected the question by not openly condemning it .100% Robbo and some of the more senior players had a good yarn to him about what is expected to be a Roosters .Robbos way is to keep it in house .As it should be

                        • yeah, no doubt he won't do it again.
i loved the way iku ran back to support - it didn't matter in the end but it's one of those 1%ers that show you a player is made of the right stuff

he thought it was the safest play at the time, which it probably was

                              • I haven’t read through this thread but I don’t think there was anything wrong in the slightest with what Walker did.

Up by one score with 30 seconds left, you can either:

                                a) Take a shot at field goal/grubbed into the in goal, risk missing/the kick going dead and give the dogs a free 20 metres and one play to take the game to extra time.

                                b) Take the tackle, hand over possession 5 metres out from the dogs line and give them one or maybe two plays for a Hail Mary.

                                c) Do what Sam Walker did, run down the clock, and don’t give the dogs any chance of having the ball in hand.

The ONLY justification that I have is that it was a regular season game against the team coming last. If that’s a grand final, I’m back what Sammy did 100%
