I spoke to him last week and he said it wasnt a tear, it was a laceration...(didnt think there was a difference myself)....

He was also addament that he will be fine for round one, I reminded him that it is much better to be out for a while long and heal properly rather than rush back and risk further injury.....

I know the club doctor wont let him on the field unless he is all good....

      Thank goodness for that.
The trouble with sports people, they understand broken bones, torn muscles etc but have difficulty coming to terms with organ damage & the consequences (including long term).
I have had several kidney infections, over the last 30 years, and while not the same as a physical problem, the symptoms are very similar. Constant blood in the urine & ABSOLUTE fatigue.
I remember trying to get back to a very physical job ($ needed) only to go downhill very quick again.
The last time it happened I took the advice & rested until able to get going & then eased back into the heavy labour again.
But he is right.....WELCOME TO MY FRIEND PAIN!
Hope the hell I never experience it ever again.

I have once had a minor kindey infection and the pain was so bad at times I thought I was dying, or wished I was.... I do not even pretend to know what Shaun or anyone else with kidney damage would be going through....

He'll have to dip his hands in supa glue before he runs out...

Didn't think it was a ruptured kidney, thought it was only badly bruised and having suffered a similar injury in my playing days (dived on a loose ball at the same time an opponent tried to kick it and copped a massive whack in the kidneys) I can tell you I never gave it a second thought after I got the all clear to play again. Maybe I'm extremely brave (or foolhardy) but I think it was simply the knowledge that the likelihood of the injury recurring was miniscule.

Is there something more sinister to his omission ?

most definatly.....my sauces tell me he was out late cruising the streets of cronulla with todd carney, looking for victims to perform a drive by shooting on,and they didnt notice masoe sitting in the middle of the road crunching numbers...next thing he knew they hit the half man half bull dozer and todds car is a write off. all this is information is being kept safe from the media in my bottle of tomato sauce.

Then you'd earn the title of the new Fubster.

If he has to mark Inglis then the Chooks might be in for a long night.
