I’ve been wondering since last year if there were telltale signs of a possible ACL injury. I wonder if there was a study of all NRL players at the start of a season by having their knees MRId and after half a season have them MRId and so on and see if there were any changes especially with those that eventually got one. Never know, maybe early detection may be able to treat them before they happen…

5 season ending injuries, 3 of those career ending. I’m blaming Ashley Klein & your mate Russell C!
I disagree I think Keary is the difference between being a contender or a flop. The Chooks went into the season with only 1 genuine top class half so this year was always going to be a risk, once he went down the team was rudderless & no Lam, Hutch, Keighran or an 18YO was gonna be able to come in & take the Chooks to this years Premiership even if the other 4 were fit.

I think Latrell left a curse on the club for punting him & I think Cody Walker was involved too.

Injuries just happen mate so even if you were MRI ing every week & things looked fine just out of the blue the injury happens. Sometimes injuries happen from no contact or very little exertion when I was nursing in theatres I was sitting down for most of the 7 hour op & when I stood up I did my back & was off work for 6 weeks. He was injured training. Should he have not been allowed to train?

              From the club:

The Sydney Roosters squad has been assessed by Club medical staff following Saturday's Round 17 match against the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs.

Joseph Suaalii sustained a lis franc injury to the foot. Scans concluded that it needed to be surgically stabilised.

Suaalii has undergone surgery and rehabilitation is expected to take approximately five months.

But he could of done the exact same injury if playing reserve grade? Or shouldn’t he be able to play that either?

in my opinion, no. i was heavily against him playing until 18 (my opinion). the body is a fragile thing and playing professional takes a toll on fully grown bodies, let alone a boy whos still going through puberty

Yes i know what to expect....

The Good- Spectacular finishing if given the opportunity, bouncing out of tackles on kick returns, will make big run metres over 80 minutes, a big hit or two defending

The Bad- Will drop a bomb or 3, will drop the ball on the 1st tackle in his own quarter, will leave his opposite unmarked by coming in even when theres numbers not to, a brain snap pass.

                      At least he is consistent

My wife did that injury playing softball a few years ago and it's not a good one that takes a long time to get over

Probably a blessing in disguise for young Joseph. Got a taste of first grade. With a proper pre season, will be back stronger. Can concentrate on the HSC as well. The kid will be a superstar

Foot injuries are notoriously tricky due to lack of blood flow to the area much more concerning than the initial "ankle" injury that was being reported.

Well now Joseph can concentrate on his HSC and he will be back next year as an 18 year old with first grade experience. I don't think he would have made a big difference to our final result for the season.
