James Tedesco asked 4 times what the ruling was and every time Gerard Sutton just said “ruck interference”, Tedesco was trying to clarify whether he was ruling Collins had directly knocked the ball out or was to slow getting off the tackle, Sutton never clarified but regardless Tedesco still said look I’ll challenge and then Sutton said “it’s gone, you can’t challenge I’ve explained it to you”.
A perfect illustration of the contempt Gerard Sutton has for our club. In nearly every other instance this year the ref tries to work with the players and explains their decisions and allows them to challenge. Sutton was not willing to clarify his decision and seemed to be buying time so that Tedesco wouldn’t challenge, everything Sutton said that was picked up by the live coverage spoke to stalling tactics.
It’s this type of behaviour along with the new interpretations of rules that makes his performances really concerning.
I know the Roosters have complained about him multiple times in the past and now Robinson has just blown up publicly about him in the post match press conference saying “we won’t get those decisions in our colours and that’s just facts”.
I don’t see this situation getting any better any time soon.

The way they officiate is a joke. The rules are a joke. Anybody could read the rulebook and concoct an outcome that suits them. Everything is so bloody arbitrary and impossible to challenge on the run. A corrupt official could easily pluck a decision out his well paid-for arse to help his preferred team win a match.
You could turn a blind eye to a marginally forward pass, but suddenly find that a flat pass has gone forward when it suits your agenda.
There wouldn't be a single team on the planet that doesn't stand marginally offside when defending their own line, but when you need to, you can penalise them and let your preferred team get away with it.
You could probably find an obstruction, shepherd, shoulder charge, chicken wing, crusher tackle in EVERY bloody set, but only when it's to the disadvantage of the team you're biased against.
Sutton is the biggest blight on our game.
There needs to be an investigation.
1985: 1 try vs Parramatta, 1 try vs Manly, 1 try vs Wests, 2 tries vs Souffs
1986: 2 tries vs Illawarra, 1 try vs Balmain, 2 tries vs Norths.

I used to love this sport. Live and breath it.
Now I just watch the Roosters with a carefree attitude.
These absolute turds for humans known as refs have broken me and contaminated by number one passion and hobby in life.Last edited by Easts to Win; 07-02-2022, 10:04 AM.

Ruck interference is not an explanation as it encompasses multiple different infringements and makes it impossible for a Captain to gauge the likely success of a challenge. For mine, Sutton deliberately circumvented the laws of the game and his obligations as a Referee to disadvantage the Roosters.
In the words of one of the great Rugby League minds and orators "there needs to be an investigation"!

I posted during the week “ Sutton yet again and the Klein the Klown in the box”. There was some serious collusion going on with these two last night, incidentally both have been refs since 2009 and Cummins from 2006. As Robbo has said sometime ago we don’t get a fair go and has been going on for years.

You could tell Tedesco was having a real hard time talking to him all game.
Good on Trent for speaking out, but that alone won't change behaviour.
What might change behaviour...(like Trent said, the bias against the Roosters is in most games)....would be naming V'landys, Abdo, and all the ARL commissioners as presiding over it.Last edited by bondi.boy; 07-02-2022, 12:47 PM.
