One needs to think before speaking or typing, especially if making comments in the heat of the moment. I dislike Sutton’s blatantly biased refereeing as much as anyone, but we need to keep things in perspective. Most importantly as I said, it’s a basic lesson that when angry, think before you speak. It should be even easier to think before you type and hit that submit button.

    • So technically we were back the 10 because he kept us back 12 meters....Way to go Sutton! Thanks for changing the course of a closely fought game with some ridiculous calls that I was enjoying & happy to see us playing so well in & leading the so called bench mark team at their home ground.

Let the players decide games & not some over zealous official. That's what fans pay their hard earned cash for.

      • I don't dislike Danish at all as I've met both he and his wife Hollus a few times as we have mutual friends. In fact as soon as Hollus had posted on here that both of them and their baby son were back safely from their time in the US, I was one of the first to say I was relieved to read that on here.

I'm just mindful and sensitive to others as that is who I am even thought I get abused for it on a weekly basis on here and I don't really care. I even had 4 work colleagues I've never met in person call me yesterday to thank me for being kind and patient. It must have been the day for it..Friday work stress, the start of a new financial year, deadlines etc..

So I have people punching me on one hand and hugging me on the other..oh well..

Caring for others has nothing to do with being woke or PC. Both of those terms are highly overused on here and quite often out of context. Oh and virtue signalling..seriously..

Plain old fashioned good manners cost nothing.

When I read Jack's post, I thought of Mighty Rooster straight away as I know she has shared her own pain with us before. Its actually a privilege when someone opens up with their own struggles and it helps others to realise they are not alone.

Still laughing though about the lady abusing Greg Hartley..Parra won 4 premierships pretty quickly after that yet 40 years later, she is still holding a grudge...oh dear...I'd be cranky at the silly Eels for not winning anything since... Thank goodness I ran away to join the circus...aka this place...

There is definitely some unconscious bias in play however, the results were some mind boggling decisions that went in the Riff's favour.

The penalty against Verrills and the 3 tackle advantage before sin binning were both laughable.

The screenshots above perfectly demonstrate the unconscious bias involved in the way he controlled the 10m, I said to a mate last night that there's absolutely no way a Riff opposition receives the offside penalties if the roles were reversed.
          • Their play the ball is 12m from our line, he is standing on our line. Every single player is back the required 10, but not the 12m he has marked out.
          • Both our play the balls are inside their 10 and he is standing short of the line on both of them. There are Riff players in front of him, and they would have had to have gone early or never hit the line to take up the positions they were in (looks like Yeo next to Sutton who just can't be onside to be that far advanced without going early or not hitting the line)
The final killer for me was the wrong call against Nat Butch for pass off the ground. It was fine. Think we score off that and even though the clock was our enemy (well 2nd enemy) a grandstand finale was looming. The bastard even denied us that.

I do admire your caring nice nature on these chats. It very soothing for the soul to read at times especially after getting screwed by refs.

I could learn a lesson from you at times but don't think I have it in me like you do as I'm a very reactive person be it bad footy losses, road rage, fools at work...etc. guess it comes with age & experience?

Whether it's 10 or 12 metres is irrelevant as the defence can only move when the Ref say's go - we don't know from these stills or even watching the game when the ref had called go.- Penrtih do sprint off their line in defence one has to say which can seem to the naked eye that they leave early as how would they get to that position so quickly

Obviously the Ref is often tipped off by the touchies and bunker on such matters as after all the ref has only 2 eyes and is watching the play the ball and would be oblivious to the fact that Freddie Freeman 4 players on his right is offside.

The one you are referring to with Yeo being in front of the ref - the ball has been played and the dummy half is in the process of passing the ball - we don't know if the ref had called go and or it was a sloppy play the ball and or the dummy half took a little longer to pick the ball up.or Yeo is sprinting up in defence to be in the position in defence as he was.

A lot of assumptions without the full facts - blaming the ref is too simplistic - Roosters conceded 4 defendable tries and some costly errors cruelled their chances of victory - i.e 18-14 up and Radley drops the ball cold when the Roosters had some ascendancy in the match.

Put the Roosters on the back foot for those last 20 odd minutes - rarely getting into a position down Penrith's end to attack their line - seem to be coming out of their own end when they did have the ball for most of those last 20 odd minutes.

Walker is not a long kicker so Penrith were often/mostly starting their sets 30 or more metres out from their own try line.

As Robbo said basically you need to defend better when things may go against you

The arrogant troll on his high horse, there is a surprise.

The part in bold is completely relevant. He had us back 12m and them back less than 10m... This is a bigger deal than someone not being back with him or going early.

Penrith do have massive line speed but all clubs are professional & is there really a big fitness gap between the top & bottom teams? Your point about the touch judges is very valid & they surely would have had an impact as Sutton would have been watching the ruck that close to the goal line.

All in all these officials need to have a basic human feel for the game & realise the players aren't robots & some leeway needs to be considered in a close hard fought game. The stills prove we weren't offside & Penrith wasn't badly disadvantaged.

                        • It's so easy for Sutton, Klein and their proteges to screw us royally, as they have the approval to do so from all of the media and all other teams' fans.

Just driving through the rain and heard this quote by Andrew Moore on ABC Grandstand - "all roosters fans whinging about refereeing, I have 2 words for you - SIX AGAIN" (bringing up again the GF where the correct ruling was made, and Canberra couldn't score against a 12 man roosters after Cronk unfairly sin-binned (admitted by refs boss), and roosters scored a memorable match winning try from their own 20.

That fat little turd Moore is no different from the rest of the media, except he works for the ALP publicity machine and is paid for by my taxes.

Thanks very much...you are a good egg yourself and we are happy to welcome you on here. I need to live up to my avatar and keep everyone calm on here..

I'm going to be 55 in a month..do not think I haven't had my moments over the years too. I've flung myself on beds in tears at half time when Parra were behind..(1981 grand final..Hartley AGAIN), cried after the 2004 grand final (there is no crying in grand finals according to Mum...I said no that's baseball Mum..when you lose to the Dogs, all bets are off.) I remember furiously texting Jack and Horrie Hastings from a Melbourne tram after a game in 2012 against the Storm..and don't get me started on the 2019 grand final..and we won that..I can't even watch it that 6 again nonsense upsets me so much..I gave away the DVD..

I just remembered I did fire a letter off to Rugby League Week at age 12 about Greg Hartley (golly he was the Sutton of his day..upsetting all us females 40 years ago) on behalf of my Parra loving dad and it got published...he took it to the pub next door to our home to show all his mates..they published another letter of mine back around 11 years ago but I can't remember what that was about..I helped Flipper Hands on here collate some penalty stats quite a few years back too for some analysis so we do take our ref watch quite seriously. I just choose to look at the stats and facts and numbers etc...banking/compliance background coming out again...

See...this is why I am not allowed to have a radio...oh dear...I'm sorry you had to listen to that nonsense and in the rain too...you know there was an independent study done on that 6 again nonsense and got published confirming that Canberra were not disadvantaged at all (never mind taking into account that they not once led that game nor did they capitalise on Cooper being in the bin and score during that time) and I had emailed that article to my old boss and some work mates who would not shut up about it..I got dead silence...I might go find that article for us..I just finished watching 971 episodes of Sons & Daughters..I need a new rainy day project...

Oh dear..edit..I just googled it and stories about how Canberra fans forced Ben Cummins to flee the country and his children got abused..the article referred to it as a 'Fatal' decision..which it was not...see my previous above rational comments about how Canberra did not once capitalise on any opportunities presented to them in that game..
